Trumpers told me yesterday that they will be sending me a sample package. For those of you who have received such samples, what products am I likely to find in my mail box?

probably 3 or 4 random shaving creams, possibly som skin food, and most probably a sample of every cologne they make...its more than you would think they would send out. A word of caution though, I have noticed that the scents of their colognes tend to vary from the sents of their shaving cream.

Guys, the free sample requests triggered by information in these forums are probably maxing out some of these companies' good will. They probably feel that a lot of these sample requests are nothing but a fishing expedition for freebies.

I've been reading about people requesting samples for almost a year, some with promisses to do a review on these forums. After dozens of requests from SRP members they probably feel that we have enough samples in our membership's hands to make up our minds decisevely without any more freebies.

I would not be too surprised if more of the manufacturers stopped shipping samples, especially as the the number of requests for free samples increases with the increased popularity of SRP.

They are in business to make money and if the only thing free samples generate is requests for more free samples then it makes no sense to invest time and money into serving these requests.

Excellent points. That's why I always take the time to share my experiences with the manufacturers. I also make a point to recommend products on the boards and make note of some of the products I've bought.

And as I said in the other thread about this:

When you buy a product directly from a company that sent samples, be sure to mention that the samples they sent really helped you make up your mind. If you buy from a third party, take a moment and let the actual manufacturer know where you made your purchase and indicate that the samples that third-party vendor supplied helped you make your purchasing decisions.

I can't help feeling that, in many cases, this is all that's going on. There's the one guy who was talking about having gotten something like 80 free samples in one day... I guess I subscribe to a different custom.

I actually could really use samples of shaving creams and colognes, since I'm allergic to so many of them. However, I haven't requested them because I haven't felt comfortable doing so--it seems too grasping, somehow.

This isn't meant to put down those who have asked; it's just a different perspective. Perhaps someday I will request some samples from companies. Obsessis was kind enough to send me some different DE blades to try, for which I remain grateful to him.

An interesting philosophical and ethical point!

    Piper,

You have a legitmate issue that is one reason samples are available. Contact the companies, let them know your concerns, promise to report back on your experience and offer to pay for the shipping.

Another option is a decant club or a travelling box of fragrance samples. This sort of thing is being done over on Badger & Blade.

    WHOA!!!!!

I never meant this topic to draw so many reactions

For me personally, I'm sensitive to fragrances and can't use very many products, but, I've heard a lot about the Trafalger fragrance and would like to know what it is like. I went to a Nordstrom over the weekend and was told that Truefitt is not in the store, just on the web.

I'm only suggesting that a strong showing from this group would demonstrate that there are many people who are interested in their products, but haven't paid their prices just to evaluate them.

Personally, I'd be happy to pay for samples. However, this topic started with someone saying the T&H wouldn't even respond to their inquiries - hence the issue I was addressing, namely, T&H turning a deaf ear to any attempt to ask about samples, rather than the courtesy of sending back at simple acknowledgement and explanation of their policy.

At this point, we really don't know what has happened. I have contacted Britanny several times at T&H, and always received a timely reply. Again, she may be out sick or off on holiday. I think more time should be allowed before jumping to conclusions.
