Thanked: 240Put a nice little notch in a brand new dovo bismark. It was a mistake shaving at an unfamiliar sink when in a hurry. Cut finger up pretty good trying to catch the same razor while I was oiling to blade for safe-keeping. Needless to say oil makes things harder to hold and the razorrock is not meant for 1/4 inch deep cuts. But you live and learn and I have many more mistakes ahead of me on my straight razor journey.

my shame
the worst thing i have ever done in th shaving fild was my first shave i tried to do sythling motion (thought i could be on of the big dogs ) and ended up with a nice gash that is now a scar on my left side of my face(thanks o all of oyu who have posted about that motion when shaving you know who you are, next time put a disclamer on it so that people like me know not to try it before we learn the basics of a shave).

...And so I join this sad, sorry group
I've been at this straight-shaving thing for about a week and have promptly managed to dink up my new Dovo. No idea what I did, but I must've just tapped the sink, because my edge is nice and rolled over. The worst part is, now that I've juuuuuussst started getting the hang of this, I have to send my only razor out to an SRP honemeister. As great as anyone can manage shipping and turn-around times, I'm banished back to the dark ages of my Mach 5 (or whatever) for the next week at least!

Yeoowwwww!
About two months ago I decided to enter the world of SR shaving. After reading a lot on this and other sites I decided to learn wet shaving technique with a DE first. Thoroughly enjoying myself. Never knew shaving could be such a relaxing, luxurious ritual.
Two weeks ago I bought a Shavette and Personna ridge back blades. I started by doing just the down pass on the cheeks and then added the chin and neck. I finished the shave with the DE.
OK. Everything is going fine. I put a new blade in the shavette yesterday and sliced off a layer of my chin the size of a 2 and 1/2 dollar gold piece! Yeowwww!! Happened so fast I'm not sure what I did!! This is a crazy way to shave!! Got a nice scar.
Ended up laughing my ass off with the wife while bleeding all over a washcloth!! Thought about putting the shavette away, locking up the blades, and never touching a naked blade to my face, again. But I won't give up. This stuff is addicting!
Had to happen some time. Hope it doesn't happen again.
