Shavers Hall of Shame
Based on a couple of recent posts, I thought it might be fun and theraputic to start a thread where we can post straight razor or other shaving gaffs we have made.
So I will put up the first one. I have cracked the blades on two of my vintage razors by not keeping the blades flat while coming off of the edge of my 1k hone with a heavy X stroke. What a hard lesson.
Just shameful.

I broke an Otto Deutsch (Hans) blade sanding it with too heavy a hand. I've nicked my nostril and my ear in front of my sideburn with a square point. Also the fingers of my stretching hand.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Carnivorous blades, Genco clobbered on dremel felt bob
I don't have jimps on my blades, they're notches for scars, bites, and vampire-like activity.
I open a blade, and it emits a Bella Lagosi (Dracula to you w/ no gray hair) laugh. Some wear earrings, I wear sculpted flesh.
The first attempt to polish a blade w/ a dremel, saw the demise of a lovely little Genco Gold Seal Jr. Sigh. I love Gencos.
And for all the hacking, slashing & general butchery, it's better than prior shaves. 'Gone from costly annoyance to costly event. The costly part is the AD's
Being new to straight shaving, I expect I have a few more scars, blood donations, and foolish expenditures to trash. We're a fragile lot when it comes to staying rational.
Screw it. Rationality is over-rated - should be done in moderation.

I dropped a faux frameback that took a huge chunk out of the toe. Joe rescaled her for me; I helped out a little.

A moment of inattention....
Today, I trashed the edge of one of the gssixgun razors
that I just received last week.
I was shaving, I set the razor down in a "safe place"
when I got distracted, and it fell to the floor.
Result? A chip in the blade, which I have been trying
all day to fix.
I'll be able to hone out the chip, but the beautiful
gssixgun edge is toast!

I managed to cut my finger on the blade of my Merkur 34C HD de safety razor. Go figure.

1. Cut my hand to crap because I dropped a razor and without thought tried to catch it...Result, shredded hand....
2. Chipped a Henkels friodor (?) because I was stupid enough to put it on extra fine DMT witihout first sanding down the chips....Result...Chipped NOS Henkels.
