Gotta agree with you there Bazz. Both days I cut myself the common factor was having still felt tired even after my shower. Been playing catch up till late as I've fallen behind in my jobs. Back on track now though I think.
Had a bit of good news from a mate of mine. I bought him a razor from Dylan (Holli4pirating) about a month back, and the latest news is he has had his first full successful shave, no nicks or cuts. He said he's still taking it slow. The good thing is he's on his way, and he's another convert to the Manly art of shaving. Makes me feel good that I was able to take the time and the 3 hour trip west to visit him, and get him started with some pointers and advice...And a new 'roo hide strop as incentive. Geez I'm a generous b@stard...

Whatever that lobe is called that's on the cheek side, mid height - I don't have lobes, I have 'sculpted flesh. Yeah, that's it - artistic and all.

The edge of the face, tracing from the ear-side of the sideburn to the curves at the crook of the jawline - I haven't found a way to scythe/guillotine stroke that area. I have to carefully trace the edge w/ a straight down stroke, following the contour of the ear, or I bleed a lot. I place the tip at a safe point along the sideburn while I can see the tip, and then transfer feedback to feel, rather than sight. I feel the blade's proximity to the rise leading to the ear and trace my way down. After that, I can scythe or whatever.

I have a narrow line between the ear and the sideburn area that doesn't have stubble...So it's got me damned why I seem to over extend and nick that curlique inside my ears, but anyway, the said area between sideburn and ear is fairly touch sensitive. To the point where I can very lightly run my finger (or the razor) and feel a tingling sensation in the part of the ear near where the finger (or blade) is touching. Another damn reason why I should know the location of the blade and never cut myself! I can feel where it is! There you have it though. I've done it and I hope to have learnt the lesson third time around.

Take care Mick. Every chance your proprioception ain't 100% if you've been crook.

i think oz might hone one of the sharpest razor around. i too cut my ear shaving with a razor he honed it was a round point and my first real straight shave. the cut is not the problem for me its the mess that follows the second time i cut my ear wasn't as bad same spot less blood
