Thanked: 983What is it with ears?!
Two days in a row I have now cut my (literally) bloody ears. One for each day! The second one the worst. You would have thought I would have learnt from my slip up the first time. The second one was done with an Onimaru honed Bengall. Real bloody sharp! I felt the blade touch my ear and flinched, even though the intial touch caused no pain. It was a reaction from having done a similar touch the day before with my Timor. So I ended up with a jagged cut on the second ear. Nothing too bad really, but highly embarressing all the same. The worst of it was on both days I ignored the feeling that today I should be using the Merkur HD as I'm not feeling physically right to put a blade to my face...A little on the tired side both days. The after effects of a recently suffered, bad 'flu I suspect. Maybe tomorrow I will think about using the Merkur...Even if I do feel right enough to use an ear cutter!

I've done it more than once with the more aggressive points. Coming down the sideburn and not paying strict attention to where the point is. Like Mark Twain's cat that jumps on a hot stove lid, I've become very circumspect when shaving that area.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

The only two cuts I have given myself with a straight have been the earlobes - once each. You would think they migrate themselves into the path of the blade - I still can't figure it out myself

Yep, I get my ears occasionally as well. Either when I go from a round point to a spikier point or when I go back to a longer blade.
Very annoying!
Both ears though, you're going for the Chopper Read look..!

Oh Mick;
The lead bad guy in the first Road Warrior was the “Toe cutter”. Guess we’ll have to start calling you the “Ear cutter”. Don’t feel bad I’ve done it too. I was just not paying attention. I’m right handed, left ear WTG. Bleed like hell don’t they?
It’ll get all crust-u-lated and heal up fine. Keep daubing with ointment.
That’ll do. So long as you didn’t hear the meat chunk hit the sink like our own Disburden, you’ll be A+1.
Have a better one.

Thanked: 0The (ears) stick out, therefore they bleed.

Thanked: 983Well since both the Timor and the Bengall are round points I feel like a bit more of a git. This is the second and third time I've managed to give the ears a little reflex test to see how fast they move. I'll try not to go for a fourth time, though I don't doubt it will happen again anyway.
I didn't bother to shave at all this morning so didn't cut myself that way, however while in my workshop just 15 minutes ago sanding a block of wood on the bench disc sander, I recieved a cut to the cheek when the disk decided to fly off just as I shut the sander down. It's going to be one of those weeks I suspect. Even told myself to put the face sheild on even though it was a quick sand only.

Don't feel bad. I have a small indent on the bottom of ear now. Never really bled a lot but I have got it a few times, same ear too.
