I was just watching smurfs the movie with my kids. Gargamel used a straight to cut off some of papa smurfs beard. Can't tell what kind it was but it is a hollow ground 5/8 I can tell that much.

The movies that I remember straights being used the first one that sticks in my mind the most is "The Color Purple" "Cut me and I'll kill you." Tombstone "Barber...you may proceed sir." and a short scene in The Patriot the main antagonist Tavington was shaving by this little creek right before Gabriel and his friends show up to try to kill him

I watched the 1930's A Christmas Carol yesterday. Although it doesn't show what he shaved with, Ebenezer Scrooge lathered up with a shave brush. Just after ordering the boy in the street to buy the big prize goose. while laughing the scene cuts to him showing up at his nephiew's house. (my favorite holiday season movie, I use to watch with my dad every year until he died 12 years ago. I still watch it every year even though my 3 year old son doesn't appreciate it yet)

Bugs Bunny in barber of Saville shaving Elmer Fudd "let me shave your crop, let me cut your mop" may have been ingrained at an early age and to blame for my curiousity.

Funny thing is Elmer has no hair.....

Scent of a woman, great flick, full barbers chair shave in that one.
