Okay, now I'm just showing off -- But my TI just arrived!
The Thiers-Issard 7/8 Loup et Belier Carbon Red Stamina.
I sure had to wait a while for this one. Every day I'd come home, hoping to find either the parcel or the note to pick it up in my mail box. It was shipped on the third of May, and it only got here today. I guess the delay makes this all the sweeter.
I had to head on down to the post office to get it. To my shock and disgust, the note told me I owed 39 dollars in duty fees!
"How would you like to pay for this, sir?" the girl asked me.
"Heh. Reluctantly."
I cut open the parcel immediately. The razor was in its leather case, inside a smaller cardboard box, amongst the packing foam. I was amazed by the weight of the thing. It feels so much heavier than any of my other razors. It's my first 7/8, by the way.
I was unable to get any great shots of it, partly due to its mirror finish, but mostly due my piece of garbage camera.
I've yet to shave with it. It's got an edge, but I don't think it's shave-ready. I'm afraid to sharpen the thing, it's so nice.
Here it is:

Beautiful razor I have one just like it. I would try shaving with it like it is. Most TI's come pretty close to shave ready or at least enough to give you a very acceptable shave. Certainly you can improve it with some light honing but go ahead and give it a spin!

That looks like a very nice razor. If you've got a pasted strop, maybe a few laps would be all it needs.

Blade,
I've lusted after one of the red stamina razors for quite some time. Congratulations, and if you ever tire of it, just donate it to my favorite charity...me!

Right out of the package, I tried to pop a few hairs, but I didn't have much luck. I don't have a pasted strop, so I took it to the 8K side of the hone to try and perfect the edge. It was then that I noticed that a small section of one side of the blade had its edge sharpened a little deeper towards the spine that the rest of the blade. It's about two thirds of the way towards the heel.
On the other side of the blade, it's just the opposite. In every other spot, the edge is consistant, but there, there is little to no edge.
So I went to the 4K to try and even it out. After some work, the more shallow side is still not matching up with the rest of the edge. I'm a little frustrated.
Help?

The interesting thing about this razor is that it is a round point. I had thought that the 7/8 TI's were the square points. Craig's is. What's the deal with this do you think? Did Classic change their stock? Do you have to make a special request one way or the other to be sure? Could I ask for a 6/8 in a square point? 'Sup wit dat?
