I would say that the methods in themselves are not all that different from the ones recommended here.
The "to-go" stone recommended over here is a 1k/6k Japanese waterstone, which I own also and which gives pretty good results - this is partly due to the fact that Norton stones are nearly impossible to obtain locally. The waterstone is available from some sources and is reasonably priced.
After that its either an 8k waterstone or the coticules, which are also in very high regard here. Finally, pasted strops are as favorite as they are here
As a final word: the variety in personal techniques and preferences is as wide as it is in SRP, I think both forums are very much alike in this regard...

Now, I could be wrong about this as I'm not too experienced, yet, but I believe the reason that lady is honing back and forth is simply because it saves her time.
I think the time saved by not having to flip the razor over the spine every time is enormous. Seeing how she probably has to hone hundreds of razors a day, that might be more important than achieving optimal sharpness.

Thanked: 0Where are all those razors going? Who's buying them? They can't all be going to the Razor Addiction Fund here on the forums... where are all these men who shave with straight razors?

Expensive stores that sell'em for 2x the classicshaving.com prices to ignorant blokes who don't know what a hone is and think hanging strops are used for sharpening.

I found the heat treating step interesting. The razors did seem to be heated in some type of bath but my German is very limited and I did not catch just what it was. Curious if they too could be using a lead bath for the initial heat treatment steps.

I found it interesting that they too are using lead even though TI makes such a big deal out of their process.
I also found it interesting that the fella didn't wear any protective gear when dealing with the liquid lead.

Yep, it seams to be lead (Blei) treating, at 850 Centigrade... go figure... well, I always loved my DOVO's

I sent this video to my German friend (the only guy on my team at work who's older than me lol) and he loved it. He had no idea this stuff was made by hand instead of just machined. He's fascinated now and wants me to bring in my razors and show him what little I know about them.
He's also thinking he might be interested in going str8 lol. He wondered if he might borrow one for a while.
*MIGHT* have another convert to add to the fold. If so, I'll hook him up with one of my razors as his first shaver and send him here to pick everyone's brains. Lord knows I don't want to turn him loose with just my scant inexperience.
Oh, anyone have a link to that German wetshaving forum I saw mentioned? He might be more comfortable there and I'll send that to him too.
