Yeah but how would the contributors get to know someone with very few posts?

You hit the nail on the head when you said

I dont think it would be that hard to figure out. There are a few guys that have mentioned that they are inteested in straight razors but realize they just cant afford any of it when they start asking qustions. Before I had my first straight razor I had well over 100 posts, granted I had a few dollars to spend. But I am sure many people have had help along the way from those more fortunate or vendors, Im sure it wouldnt be that hard to figure out???

JL,
The best way to keep this simple could
be the following.
You pick out a few of the members to
assist you in selecting a winner.
I seriously doubt that anyone on this forum
will be offended or upset if they aren't chosen to
help you select the winner.
Just some more thoughts.......

I didn't finish reading this thread, just about 8 posts.
If you want' them to go to who you say you want them to go to (poorish), you've got to do it the old fashion way: patience and hand selection.
Just hold on to them and when you see someone squirming in newbie's corner throw them a bone

Actually this could be a pretty good idea. Nice thinking IC.

Icecow does make a good point.
Be patient. Not only do good
things come to those who wait -
but good results come come out
of this drawing if you wait.
In time the right person will come
along.
How will we (you) know?.......
Not sure. But the results could be no worse
that rushing to give the stuff away before
a certain date.

I got lucky on this count. Had a time limit and a random number generator to choose for me. The winner of my little giveaway (Dave) is turning out to be a real asset. It's going to be VERY interesting to see what he'll come up with once the stuff from Tony comes his way. The other 3 candidates would have been worth it as we had:
1) Steve, who was willing to pass up on the draw in favor of the less fortunate. He only entered the draw to get the ball rolling as there was a lack of interest in the beginning.
2) Kelly, who already had everything BUT a razor (great retention potential and he's been contributing)
3) Pat with family connections to the community (Tom's son)
I just wish I had more stuff to give away.
