Thread: Oops I attempted to carry a straight razor onto a plane!

Well I unpacked all my shaving supplies in a rush to the Newark, NJ airport to catch a flight down to augusta, GA to do some work tonight at Fort Gordon, but I forgot to unpack my 8/8 worked back Friodur! Well the first thing the TSA rep did was run his finger over the blade and although I was hoping he would lose a finger for being such a moron, he didnt. Then several other TSA agents attempted to examine the razor which I quickly put an end too.

Then the police arrived and proceeded to nudge me in my bad shoulder to get my attention as I was on the phone trying to rebook my flight that was due to leave in 5 minutes at that point. I tried not to be to pissed off at the cop since she had no idea I had a bad shoulder, but Im sure I was noticeably agitated. The police attempted to ask me the same questions the TSA had, which was "why did I have the razor", I told them "I shave with it", but it was easy to see they didnt believe me they and started giving me a hard time.. I might have made my life easier by showing the police some of my cretentials and/or stack of fop / pba cards, but I was so embarased at my stupidity, I decided it wasnt worth alerting my company or any of my friends that I had been so dumb.

The tsa then proceeded to measure the blade repeatedly against a steel ruler and Im sure mangaed to dull my newly Lynn honed blade against my repeated requests to turn it around (Lynn if you are reading this, I may be sending it back for a touchup as I wont be able to strop it on the pasted strop due to the upcoming surgery).

Finally they let me go and said I would receive a warning or summons in the mail. I was noticeably not phased by this statement because my company and several agencies and other companies need me to fly all the time, and they tend to handle these type of situations very quickly for us. I did not mention this tidbit of information, but it was easy to see they were a little bit confused and disapointed that I was not worried about this.

So anyway here I am in the airport waiting for my next flight which gets me into augusta at 11:50 pm, 10 minutes before I have to be on sight and on base....ohwell I guess they will just have to wait lol!

Entertaining story. The wannabe cops probably thought they had something. But, you should know by now how to travel... no?

On another note... Over on the thread that has your Christmas present ~ you know, the one you promised not to look at ~ well 11 guys voted on the poll that you would peek at the thread before you were supposed to, as opposed to 5 who said you would keep your word and not look.

I promised bill I wouldnt peek, and I wont...I am very excited about it being a surprise, and because I trust Bill's taste Im confident I'll be happy with the result. Now, if it was being made by someone who's work I had not seen before I might be tempted to peak because I would wonder if they understood what I wanted, but that isnt the case.

I will however read the thread on christmas day or the day after so I can see any photos and comments that have been posted about it. I am very excited to see photographs documenting the razors creation.

If I was going to hijack a plane, I'd use an 8/8 worked back Friodur as well. Good thing they stopped you, I bet you'd feel compelled to do something dangerous if you got on the plane with that thing.

Btw, I voted that you're a man of your word and won't peek. If I was you, I'd take a look though. That thing looks a tad bit too big, even for you. Some guys voiced doubts whether you'll be able to lift it high enough to reach your face... So, you should take a look and tell Bill to cut it down a bit, as it's too big!!!

Yeah I also voted you wouldn't look but I am worried because the pink coloring isn't too manly. I think Bill was doing drugs or something. Oh well better big than pretty..

Yes, this was definitely dumb move on my part. Im sure the fact that the port authority of NY shut down some airports temporarily due to a bomb scare didnt help, since they also run the Newark airport.

I wanted to explain to them that if I was going to kill anyone that it wouldnt be with such a beautiful razor, as it might dull the blade or possibly damage the pins or scales, but I decided to keep my mouth shut lol

Thats what everyone said about my 9/8's lol and its one of my best shavers! Besides I have been dreaming of a 12/8s since I heard of their existance sometime back. Besides Bill already warned me he thought it ws a bit large hehe.

Hmmm....maybe I should have asked for a towel steamer too then! :P
