Like (I suspect) was the case for a lot of others, SPR started out as just one of a bunch of sites that I used to visit when starting straight shaving. This is the site I have stuck with because of the content, the tone, and the people who have been incredibly helpful to me along the way. But that's not to say that the other places are all bad, and I think it's worth noting that there were at least a few members on that thread over there who were trying to rein things in.

It was in original condition, faded red, well-worn, but nice.
This was and still is my favorite combination; beautiful, original, and worn.

Absolutely. My smiley and last sentence have disappeared. It was more a tongue in cheek observation.
One of the members actually got hold of Lynn.
I'm the same, I looked at B&B and chose here based on my anonymous snooping and seeing the wealth of advice available and the cool razor pictures and the RAD support.....
Both are good sites, I (not slinging mud here) think this site is better for the reasons you mentioned as well as what I mentioned and more.
EDIT: I went a bit Allo Allo

Came because I liked the site design better. Stayed because I like it here. I actually do not judge the website one way or the other in relation to Lynn. Having said that Lynn has always treated me nice.

You can satisfy all the people some of the time and some of the people all the time but you can't satisfy all the people all the time. To those few who have their own agenda to hell with them.

From what I read, the OP seemed to create a lot of unnecesary drama over a minor issue that should have been handled privately. How many thousand other people (myself included) have had flawless customer service from Lynn/SRD?
There are many roads to sharp.

Thanked: 0You guys might find a new comers experience interesting.
I found the B&B site first by chance as I became interested in wet shaving. I was learning to use a DE at the time and reading stuff all over the web. In time I found this site and frankly found it more useful. It had what seemed better advice overall and a greater depth of understanding.
I really did not know who Lynn was, that he had founded the site, or that SRD was so closely related. I just liked this site better.
As I got interested in straights I found this site much more useful and SRD much more interesting. I also became introduced to Lynn via his videos and DVDs.
In short, I guess I settled here because this site works better for me than any of the others I have read. I still read some of them - but this is where I come first.
As to customer service, there is a reason that I selected a career that did not involve waiting on the general public - taken as a whole they are nuts. Any good businessman needs to realize that some customers just need to be "fired".
To all, please keep doing the good job you have been doing......

As a regular on both SRP and B&B, it is unfortunate that the two forums don't like each other. I have found that both sites have a wealth of very helpful information and friendly members. I could not have achieved what I have without the two. As to the thread bashing Lynn on B&B, I tried to read it, but I couldn't find it. Let me just say. I am a regular customer at SRD, and they are truly a class act business. They offer great products at great prices, very fast shipping, and excellent customer service. I have bought a few new razors from them that was professionally honed, and have also sent them a razor I could not get sharp. Every razor that I got back from there was truly shave ready. SRD is A+++.

Well, this got my curiosity up and i went and found the thread over at B&B.
It appears everyone is in support of Lynn and simply see it as a misunderstanding.
IMO, it looks like everyone sees the OP as very impatient.
Bottom line is, it's a shame Lynn was forced to tell his side of the story.
But the communication and wealth of knowledge on this site is most likely the key to its strength in the shaving community.
Cheers,
Paul

Thanked: 485I tried to find the thread out of morbid curiosity but gave up. I have no desire to hang out there because this site provides everything I need. It's the same reason I don't got to restaurants. You'd understand if you tasted my wife's cooking...
