I just learned about this and would LOVE the opportunity to be a part of this. I live in Selah/Yakima so any weekend works well for me.

It would be great to see you there! It looks like we are leaning towards a specific weekend already in the polls, so I am already starting to assume that third weekend in May will be it. I am still waiting to hear from a couple of other people and will likely just call them. I will have Wanda hop on here soon about food stuffs. I need to know, are there any dietary restrictions coming to the meet? I am always willing to accomodate where I can.

I think that we have made our decision. If there are no qualms, I am going to set the date for the weekend of May 17-18. I am frantically finishing razors to show you guys at the meet. If anyone has ideas for giveaways, please send me a pm or email. Wanda and I will be discussing food soon and I have not had one person give me a dietary limitation, if you need that, contact me ASAP! In the mean time, I need to get back to the shop!

I'm super uber lactose intolerant, but unless the menu is 100% milk based I'm certain I'll be okay

Thank you, I will work around that for the most part. There is one appetizer that has cream cheese, but that is the only thing that I can think of so far.

Now that we have a date we need to discuss food does anyone have any special requests? If you have been to a meet before you know that I can cook most anything. I will cook lunch both days and have things to graze on through out the day. Anything special you would like to bring contact me I can work my menue to have it all mix well. I don't cook anything small so bring your appetite. As always we appreciate anyone willing to bring a favorite drink to share with the group.

With things getting closer I am trying to get a couple of razors finished to show off and get my tools in top condition.
Can I get people who are coming to PM me so I can get a head count?
Also, if anyone wants to turn a brush handle or is looking to learn something else specific, let me know so I can make sure that we have all that we need. If you are wanting to make a brush, I suggest that you order your knot now. If you need help, please ask.

Message for newcomers: This is a very serious opportunity in many directions. Its literally true that you'll likely learn more in a day or two at one of these meets than you will in 6 mo of reading, videos, practice, etc. The honorable Glen being the honemeister is a treat - and he won't be the only guy who knows his way around a stone. Gerrit & 'Nanna' are as wonderful as it gets. This will be a fantastic chance to learn alot and have a great time. It would be worth it just for the guys you'll meet and spend time with. I still can't forget meeting Mike Blue.
If you live w/in striking distance (5hrs each way for me - and it was wall worth it just for one day), be sure to go. If possible, try to help the hosts - they really make it worth it.

As this is my first time to an event like this, what (as a newcomer) should I and others bring along (equipment, materials, practice razors, etc) that would be beneficial to our learning process?

Bring whatever you want! Bring hones if you have them (we can help people learn their hones), bring razors that need help, bring razors that you want to show off or know more about, bring yourself, bring your appetite, bring questions, bring an open mind. And if there is anything at all that you want to ask before or after, please feel free.
I just realized that not everybody knows that they are welcome to turn a brush at the meet. That previous offer was not exclusive.
