Java,
Glad you are coming and bringing the Moustache wax. I just ran out of firehouse and was going to order some. However with you bringing some, this will give me a chance to see what else there is out there. what do you find is your best holder?
Warpiper has a great idea with this one. He and I have found that the same soap acts totally different between our water type. I am blessed that I have a deep well (600') solid granite with sweet water. I am sure I will be sending lather water home with him. :D
While I was out in K.C. in January I found that my creams and soaps did not work as well as they did when I was home. Of course it is heavy limestone out there.
As Warpiper stated I would also encourage people to bring water samples from home and see how a soap they try during the meet up works with their water.
I'm on a community well. Drilled right into a limestone bed. Really. Water was 21 on the hardness scale. Got a softener. Notice a difference in water but not huge difference in soap. Maybe I should retry a soap I had earlier dismissed...
Thanks everyone for all your help and participation to make this meet a reality.
The easiest way is through the donating vendors page on www.ashevillewetshavers.weebly.com and click on the e2 tactical link. Let me see if I can grab a link

Guys, buy up some Coates cream while you can too.
That's on the site too, ;)
Here's the direct link. I think you'll quite enjoy dealing with Mike.

Well, it looks like I will be in New Jersey that week. Sorry I can't make it, but looking forward to seeing photos!
rickboone / hidestoart,
Gentlemen, you will notice that this is my first post on this forum. However, please know that I've "lurked" around SRP for nearly 2 years before creating a login account. I largely credit this forum, and a "little" additional internet / youtube research, for allowing me to dive into the world of straight razor shaving and for helping me find creative ways to drain my bank account.
Not to be long-winded, but like many others have posted on here in past threads, I suffered from years of redness and irritation from cartridge shaving. However, those experiences came to an end after the first three months of consistently using a straight. By no means do I consider myself a "straight-razor-pro," nor would I ever be so arrogant and ignorant to claim such after having only spent just under two years exploring this world and all it has to offer. As such, I would thoroughly enjoy an opportunity to join all of you gentlemen for the Asheville Meet-Up. Do you have room for one more FNG?
Best regards,
ShavingSnob (Brian)
You bet we do! :) I look forward to meeting you. :)
Do you have any questions about the Razor Meet?
Brian we absolutely have room for you. Feel free to PM me with any questions you may have about the event or anything else. I'll be more than happy to help. If your significant other would like to come we have room for her to in the womens adventure. Glad you quit looking on the form and decided to join us I look forward to meeting you.
Hey Guys - Thanks for the quick response.
At this point I don't have any immediate questions. I did my "homework" by reading through the entire thread, accessing the dropbox schedule, scoping the meet area on Google Maps, and I looked for hotels in the area before posting. More than likely, I'll be driving in from TN very early Saturday morning, so I might be a few minutes late if I run into a traffic coming over the mountain. I'll be staying the night Saturday in order to attend the Sunday meet as well. In addition, I'll bring my handheld video camera, as I read where you guys put out a call for such in the hope to record as much of this as possible.
Regarding the outing for the wives - great idea! But, mine won't be able to make it, so I get to leave her at home this time. In any case, I certainly look forward meeting you gentlemen as well.
Welcome aboard, Brian! Four years in, and I still consider myself an FNG, especially compared to some of the real experts on this forum. Like Randy, I look forward to seeing you in Asheville. This one is really shaping up to be an epic meetup. SHD/Aaron
Well guys it is time to show the pictures of the hone Miesters so you will know who is who when you walk in. Each is here to show you their style & perspective on honing.
Speaking of honing. I have been asked to share their thoughts on this subject. Sure they are going to do some free honing. However keep in mind there are 3 of them and they want to have fun at the meetup as well. So they would like to limit it to 1 honing per attendee. If time allows they may do more. With the size of group that is signed up I am sure you can understand why we don't want to bog them down. If you are new to Straight Razors don't be shy let them know. If you already hone please offer to share in the work load for the new guys that may have more than 1 razor.

Well one of us looks like a drunken idiot.
Yes, come on,Brian. Thanks for reaching out to us. We will work together to make sure you have all your questions answered and are comfortable with straights.
Really wish I could miss work for this!
Package inbound from.....Georgetown pottery!!!
I have to say I just came back from the Barber shop. I went in and got the works, Hair cut and shave. The sad part is I missed the shave from the point the hot towel came off until the sting of the aftershave woke me up. I said it right I fell a sleep in the chair. the last time I did that I was in turkey. Warpiper if you don't get enough sleep the night before the meetup you can get it in the chair when it's time for your shave.
I'm looking forward to it. I'm starting to get a little shaggy but I can hold off 2 more weeks and get a hair cut there too. I"m sure he's familiar with high and tights. :)
Besides the Straight Shaves he does vintage cuts. You can get High and Tight or a James Dean with genuine D.A. He is old school thru and thru. Last week when I was there he was working on a Conway Twitty for some guy that had his belt buckle over to the side in a 70's style.
I have a bunch of pomades from Dax imperial to give away. Get an old school pompadour then grease up.
I need a photographer for the event.
Also, a videographer would be nice. But not as needed as stills.
Photographer will photograph the event and prizes/ winners. Post photos on the forums and website and send photos to the vendors that donated. Many have requested that could not be there.
Looks like a special treat from Shapton stones could happen. ;)
I like the way you think pfries.
Biggest thing is we flood the forum with pics and praise. And we spend money with them. And tell others.
One vendor is working on an exclusive scent available only to us!!
Guys, feel free to post this stuff on other forums. I just don't have the time. I spent about 5 hours chatting with various vendors today alone. Not really why I dot have time. But please. Spread the word as you see fit and are able.
I will update the website list ASAP
Hey guys, check this page out. Let me know your thoughts...
What you'd like to see on there...
Any suggestions at all.
This will be the reference for you after the meet up. For instance, Robert, sitting beside you a tub of cream. You got home and couldn't get the scent out of your mind. You now want to order a tub. Access the site and it will be right there!
Donating Vendors - Asheville NC wet shavers meet
It's changing daily! More stuff coming in.
Rick have you touched on SEO for the page?
como? whatcha talkin about willis?
Search Engine Optimization.
It helps the page get found, linking to it per say from here helps it.
I could spend quite a while breaking it down but I think this may turn into an annual thing.
If you want to look at that and keeping the page live post event we can talk about it at the meet.
Drive enough traffic and well it can benefit all of us vendors included.
Ohh. No I haven't. Annual...probably not. At least not in this capacity nor in the same location. I dunno. Maybe.
But yeah. Thank you for clarification. I haven't done it. Perhaps you could me with it or point in right direction? I would like to get a domain so the weebly can be dropped.
Annual being the meet up not saying location, capacity, we can talk about it if needed.
There's always a meeting somewhere on the globe. ;). Who knows. It may be here. Just thinking of everyone coming in from al over is why I said that.
But yeah let's chat about it. Curious to know what's on yer mind and what good things you have. ;).
Give me a call tomorrow if possible.
Thanks.
To get us back on track, The team would like to point out another great opportunity to learn at the meetup,
Most of you know him as Walleyeman, you have seen his work in the classifieds, show and tell as well as the brush makers alcove on several websites. Ray will be coming in for the meetup. I don't know if he will have any brushes or not, we can only hope. The reason I am bringing this to your attention, Ray is a wealth of knowledge in brushes when it comes to building and repair. I would encourage you to ask questions of him, as he is not one of those men that is self promoting, but when asked he is willing to help and share,
As you can see his work speaks for itself.
