Asheville Wet Shavers Convention 2014
Add me to the list, I should be able to make this one.
Thanks Rick!

Will do...
If the Wife's not working I will be there.
Rick-I might be interested in this. Do you know where it's going to be? Aaron
It's in Asheville. The location will be emailed. It's secured already don't worry. It's at a members place of business in the area.
This is one you do not want to miss.
Lynn is trying to come. Some of the cats that have been around a while may be there.
The Location will be at my place of employment. The company name will not be mentioned as per my agreement with the CEO. However I can guarantee that I have a large enough, new meeting area that we can cover 40 - 50 people.
Kevin
Kevin, can we give the address or cross streets or something so they can find adjacent hotels? That's the issue we need to resolve.
But yes, if and when you do learn the business name, please keep it to yourself. It's nothing shady or anything, it's just....employees can be jealous. Anyway. Enough on that. This is a huge favor from Kevin's CEO and the CEO said make sure its not leaked so leak it will not.
Only thing leaky with this group is cheeks and necks.
It'll be a 250-mile motorcycle fun ride for me - weather dependent. 50/50.
Ah. You should ride devils backbone. The road with like over 100 something curves in 11 miles.
I will start checking around to find several room rates that are close by.
Not far from Asheville (Deal's Gap/Robbinsville, NC) for those who are two-wheel intentioned. Very, uh, colorful on a nice day. Very well policed on a nice Saturday, too. Place of interest to see cool machines and hear loud noises.

The closest landmark would be the Crown Plaza Hotel right off I-240 west, just 1 mile east of downtown Asheville.
As far as the Company name once it is posted, it shows up in google then when found by an employe, the CEO has to say no to some kids birthday party... :argue:
Perfect! @Lynn can find a place to rest his head. ;)
If we have enough interest, I am willing to turn this into a 2 day event. Should this happen We would need to shut down around 4:00 on Sunday so I can get the place put back together as nothing happened.
For those of us that will show up on Friday night...recommendations for a bite and brew?
There's a Crowne plaza on resort dr and expo dr.
For what it's worth, downtown Asheville is lousy with brew-pubs and restaurants, quirky shops, and people-watching opportunities. Very artsy/hippie/touristy, and has been given the title of "Beer City USA" on more than one occasion. I plan to come, will stake out secret location and await instructions at the blind drop via my decoder ring.:p
Sounds good to me. I'm down for whatever. I could be the DD so long as we leave by 10 so I can get in bed. Hahhahahap
For you guys on a budget, the Downtown Inn was completely remodeled under new ownership a few years ago, and is a quite decent place to stay at a very reasonable price, with free parking and a decent continental breakfast. It is also within staggering distance of a bunch of good downtown watering holes. Jack of the Wood, one of the best,is right across the street.
As it stands now, I will attend. I am looking forward to meeting everyone. I think there may be a few more from the Raleigh Durham area.
Count me in! As a FNG I will be asking lots of questions! Be nice to look at some awesome blades. As a newbie my biggest thing is honing and stroping my blade, but I would like help in finding a shaving soap, so smelling and listening to people would be nice.
Just got a great donation for prizes from coatescream.com
I was at the Ashville, NC Razor Meet in 2009. The downtown area is really good for eating and drinking. Just ask Simon Coull, Joe Chandler, sicboater, Lynn, don, bill s, gssixgun, bill from oklahoma, oldblades, spazola etc! We stayed at the Holiday Inn if I remember correctly.
Be sure to bring your video cameras, lot of honing will be going on and probably a lot of custom razors will be showing up! :)
Only about 120 miles for me. Weather permitting it sounds like a nice bike ride to me too. (Still have to double check my calendar, though)
It is 1100 miles one way for me. A 6 day trip. I have to budget & plan for that. Maybe next year. :)
Gentlemen Attending the Asheville Meet Up,
I am most please to be able to announce that for those of you who have had the experience, and for those of you that would like to for the first time. Straight Razor Shaves are available from a licensed NC. Barber.
While leaning back in a 1950's barber chair and listening to the sounds of times past. My Barber has agreed to do Straight razor shaves complete with hot towel and lather from the old machine in other words the whole works during our meet up.
This "MAN" pleasure will be available exclusively to men attending this meet up and done at his shop, located only 8 minutes away from our meeting area. I will be doing a sign up sheet for time slots. If this trip down memory lane is of interest to you, feel free to PM me for a time slot. If there is enough interest Alan may be willing to start Friday afternoon & Finish Sunday morning.
Here is a review of his shop posted on YELP:
Excellent classic barber shop. Alan is a student of "vintage" cuts and has studied doo's from movie stars of the 20s thru 50s. Hot towel, neck shave, talk about hot rods, Triumphs, anything fifties and you're on your way. Not a pretentious hipster joint, the real deal. Decor is collection of vintage items and cool artwork.

Well there you go guys, another good reason to attend this meet up.
Kevin
With the way this is going I have secured the building for a 2 day event. it would not be right to ask anyone to drive that far for only 1 day. The more time we spend together the more each of us will gain from the other.
Kevin
I have at least one custom scuttle for prizes.
I'll be there.
