Thanked: 995I missed the first one. I'm going to put in for this one now.
Razorfeld: remember April 11-12 we're trying to meet at the Eugene Knife Show. I know it's not Portland. I could meet in Portland as I have family there too. But it would be time to plan for that.

Mike will you be doing Eugene both days or one only? I ask because if one day I'd hitch a ride with you (old car, like me, not sure it can make it down and back anymore - the car that is).

Glad to see people showing some interest this early. Looking forward to seeing you all again. Razorfeld, I would love to help with a Portland meet-up if you need any help.

Thanked: 52Razorfeld:
I think a Portland meet-up is a splendid idea, I would attend and help as long as is scheduled before the middle of August as after that I'm out of the country.
Matt: Any chance of a date for the meet-up in early August? See above. Just me being selfish, please let me know if I can support your efforts before I leave.

I will be starting a search around the Forest Grove area (30 miles east of Portland). A couple of new drinking establishments have sprung up and might be good meeting spaces. One is actually a new cider brewery with space (and I would imagine water access that we would be needing.)
Time wise, I am not looking at it for this year since the Seattle meet seems paramount for the gathering. I will be aiming for next Spring (the experts I have in mind for the meet will likely need a lot of advance notice to be able to schedule it.)
For me, organizing a meet is like learning to shave with a straight. Slow and steady wins the space and the people."The sharpening stones from time to time provide officers with gasoline."

FranfC: I don't have anything against August off hand. I think I would like to keep it around the same day, but my opinion isn't set in stone. There was a reason I went with September or October last year but can't find it in any of the old threads. The only thing that comes to mind is people being on vacation is August.

Thanked: 52Matt: I think it's a toss up between family vacations and the hunting and fishing vacations that take place in the fall, I know that's it for me.
I'm just gone fishing out of the country from the middle of August till the end of October so my reasons are purely selfish and therefor are irrelevant.
Thanks for the work that you do in organizing etc. this meetup and I hope to be able to attend in the future. Please let me know if I can help in any way.
Best regards
Frank
