I bought an inexpensive ($50) barber shear yesterday to practice what Scott showed us. My wife had been wanting a pair for a while anyway. They seemed pretty good out of the box, but were much improved with some work on an 8k Naniwa. I was surprised at how many of the shears had a different profile than what I was looking for. The pair that I got have a hollow grind and a convex outer grind similar to the pair that Scott showed us.
