Thanked: 21There are small town grocery stores in both Prairie City and Monroe, and a HyVee and Fareway supermarkets not far from the Sleep Inn in Pleasant Hill. There are a few options for lunch, local taverns in Runnells, and a couple of bars and diners in Monroe and P.C.

Thanked: 2209I just sent out PM's to the Iowa and Nebraska people.
Here is the text that I sent ................................................
================================================== ========
Hey all,
May 28 & 29 we are having a Razor Meet in
Runnels Iowa just SE of Des Moines.
The host is Howard Clark at his
Morgan Valley Forge workshop in Runnels Iowa.
Howard is a long time straight razor user/maker and has been
forging them for a number of years. He is also an accomplished
bladesmith/swordsmith with a focus on Japanese katana's,
wakazashi's and tanto's.
Howard is a well known instructor in the blacksmith community on
a number of different subjects such as pattern welded Damascus,
forging swords/ knives and razors to name a few.
Here is a link to the thread
http://straightrazorpalace.com/get-t...stions-12.html
The address is
Morgan Valley Forge
115 35th Pl, Runnells, IA 50237
Just east of Des Moines a bit
Google maps has this down exactly.
Please note that this is out in the country.
There is no motel close by but Howard has a lot of room
for campers and RV's and tents ( old family farm).
It is locate about 30 miles southeast of Des Moines.
Out in the country a bit, and there are three miles of
gravel road to get here from the paved road.
The closest hotels are in Pleasant Hill, Iowa at the Sleep Inn,
or in Altoona where there are multiple choices.
Or Newton, which also has multiple choices.
All are approximately 30 minutes away from the shop.
This should be a very interesting razor meet as it is being held in an professional
razor/sword/blade forging workshop. You will see things here that
you will find at very few other places in the USA.
If you plan on attending or have any questions please post
in the SRP thread.
Hope to see you there,
Randy Tuttle

Thanked: 3795OK, I have done my best to compile a list from people who gave some indication that they intend to go. Some comments were sufficiently vague that I had a make a few judgement calls regarding intentions. I apologize if I missed anyone. Regardless, here is a list to start with and it can be modified as we get closer to the date.
