Thanked: 2284Well, what a fantastic day!! Maybe my favourite meet yet. 7 hrs went by like a snap of the finger, and only because of the amazing company I was in today. The day started off slow with some great conversation under the hot razor melting sun...... and I'm not kidding. I could hardly pick up my Kamisori that was practically ready for for a second heat treatment. Everyone's celluloid was covered in an awful hurry. Once everyone finally arrived, the gossip started to fly, just like females talking about babies and weddings.
One thing I really wanted to do was see all the W&B FBUs put into a group side by side. I knew there were a many floating around in this group, but I had no idea there were so many!!!!
We finally went around and checked out everyone's gear, but it seemed as though the group around Phranks mini cabinet was especially bigger.... and for good reason.... Phillys, Heljies, Ducks, Sheffies and like everyone on here knows, The Wade & Butchers!!!!!! OH MY!!!
Never have I seen so many high end razors in one group. It was breathtaking to say the least.
Mike B, Thank you once again for hosting a fantastic meet, the food was fantastic!
To the rest of the GTA crew, what an exceptional bunch of guys. Such a pleasure to hang with all of you today.
Andrew, thank you so, so, so munch for the Henckels 14 Carbon steel. I happen to blurt out a razor I've been eyeing on ebay and next thing I know there's one in my hand, and Andrew saying, '' it's yours, take it'' You blew me away with that generosity, and I thank you.
Give away's were flying around all day to different guys, and it was just so cool to be apart of.

Was a totally awesome time, and a reminder that it's the people and the friends you meet that make this such a wonderful pastime.
I thoroughly enjoyed meeting everyone, felt like we'd been friends for years and we just picked up the conversation from the last time we all talked.
Thanks guys, I had a really great day today....
PS - ....and thanks for catching the widest possible surface area of my bald cranium with those pics....

Thanked: 4206Alphabetically speaking, Mike B totally out rocks Mike F I believe is how that argument ended.
As Andrew said, 7 hrs should always go by so quickly. Good folks, gear, and knowledge, mixed in with Fine Kentucky Bourbon and beef always ends in good times. Was another very hot day and the mothers polish went liquid in a couple containers, the Krokos held together in the sun as did the mdc, so testimonial to their respective strengths of mix.
Phrank's collection was certainly all I hoped it would be and I am fortunate to have been able to appreciate some of Val's stellar WB restores. Nothing short of incredible to have in your own hands. Scott's coti collection, and knowledge of same, most unexpectedly expansive, and appreciated. Glad you made it Scott.
Some gifts were exchanged, I am grateful to be the recipient of a few, thank you gentlemen all.
and a nod to the cow who gave a leg to the team...
And I found a free Escher's hone when cleaning up to boot so yea for me, gifts keep coming,,
lol. Just kidding Andrew..
Thanks all for coming. I know the wives don't get it,,, and that's ok by me..

Colin - was fantastic meeting you, and mucho appreciated on the honing lessons...my hips and shoulders are still tingling with delight and the memories of you guiding me steadily along the stones.....:-)
Mike T - thanks - I get it, when the striations finally go "all the way to the edge of the blade on both sides, that's when the bevel is set"....
Between Colin and Mike T - got an invaluable lesson in honing, hands on...all the tidbits of information, all the various techniques I'd read about, all the dots connected and it made sense. Colin showed me a fantastic way to hold the razor while honing, turns out using the stone sideways is cool. "However you can make it work for you to get the job done!".
Good times....
