Thanked: 416well we met with the church to express our appreciation for the use of the space and they were so impressed with the way we left the property that they have booked it to us for next year. And I know we are still coming down from this weekend, but I thought you might like to know we are definitely on for next year. So ladies and gents the next SE NC gathering will be held on the first weekend in June 2009. The space is already booked!!!!!!!!!!!!

I apologize for the late reply. It's taken me a few days to process all the new information I've learned at the conference.
I want to start by giving a BIG thank you to everyone. (And I mean everyone.) There is not a nicer group of people on the planet. Everyone was more than willing to help out a lost little newbie with advice, techniques, explanations, demonstrations, friendship, and plenty of free samples and gifts.
So what have I learned? Wow!
I was taught how to straight shave by Lynn, Glen, Simon, Byron, David, etc... (Thank you, guys!)
I was taught how to make good lather by Glen. (And I'm not talking about the Uber-Lather.) Man! I thought my home lather was fine. I used Glen's technique and...FANTASTIC! Now I shave with real lather! What a huge difference! (Thanks, Glen!)
I was taught how to strop the correct way by Lynn and Glen.
I learned that Simon needs to work on his Scottish accent. It's so fake. It's obvious he's never been outside of Landrum, SC. (Keep practicing, buddy.)
I also learned...you know what? There is absolutely too much to write about. I learned so much. So very much.
But best of all, I made some really good friends. And I hope to see them all again soon.
How about a quarterly meetup? (Or at least twice a year.)
Thanks,
Christopher

Chris it was so gratifying to see what can be accomplished by having a few people help you out, im so glad you didnt throw in the towel because after the shave you grinned like a cheshire cat!!! Well done, keep it up and if you ever become stuck with anything gimme a bell, all you need to do is ask and im only a short drive away.

Thanked: 13245The NC Meetup
A lot of what we did has already been written, but before I get to anything else I gotta say that a HUGE THANK YOU!!!! goes to Doc and his wonderful wife Martha because without them this never would have come together.... I gotta say they showed me what the term "southern hospitality" really means.....
The Friday get together was fantastic and it pretty much set the mood for the rest of the "Gathering"
A couple of things that really stood out were Christopher (CJBianco) and Josh getting their first real straight shave down, and under their belts, the grins they had made the whole thing worthwhile!!!!
Watching Byron and Chris (SR-CMT) sit there and hone their own razors, and then go test shave them was another shining moment...
Having Lynn and Simon both shake their heads and say "Damn Glen this Uberlather really works" was pretty fun too!!!
The smile on Tim's (oldblades) face as we all sat there in awe of his massive collection was a thing to be seen......
It was a true testament to have so many different people meet and share one passion, to what the forum is REALLY all about....
The biggest smile was probably mine every time we sat down to eat, OMG the food was great ....
Everybody seemed to have the same thought as the "Gathering" came to a close though, "When and where are the next ones going to be"
I gotta say if yer new or old to this hobby of ours and one of these happens so that you can get there don't miss it.......
Also a thank you should go to the great Vendors that helped sponsor this get together....
I will definitely be doing some reviews of the soaps and cremes that I brought home....

Can we PLEASE push the next meet back until mid-June or early July?!
Hey, I had to ask.....
