I'll post pix a little later today, once I get a chance to resize them.
eta: have I lost my mind, or is the ability to upload pix to a thread missing?Last edited by jockeys; 05-04-2008 at 03:08 PM.

Oh man, I missed the group picture!!!! And, I left my door prize behind. And, I missed winning the razor, because no doubt I would have, instead of Spazola. I guess that will teach me to leave early!
I had a great time. Thanks for the fun everyone, and for the opportunity to see some fantastic razors. Spaz, you are a serious razor machine!
And Dewey, thanks most of all to you for the opportunity to buy my first great razor. I built a small shrine around it when I got home!
Jockeys, my family stopped at Wal-Mart on the way home, and I thought I would see if they had a self-watering pot. Two sizes! I got the small 4" one for $4.96. I am cracking up. It works PERFECTLY! I'm counting that as $60 bucks toward the purchase of my razor.
Looking forward to next time.

We had a great time. I wanted to send out some special Thank Yous to everyone for coming and to all the guys and vendors who supported the event with some fantastic give-aways:
John Crowley http://shavingshop.comwho volunteered to do a honing class and then raffled off a fantastic Friodur Cryo-tempered 8/8 (!!!!) razor (dang, I thought 32 entries on my behalf would make me the winner, but Spazola took the prize!).
Traveller (Gary Alfonso) who donated three sets of his awesome customized scales and even sent a box of sample stuff to give the winners some great ideas.
Howard from http://http://www.theperfectedge.com/ who donated a cotigura stone and free shipping on their next order.
Kenrup from http://http://ruprazor.com/ who drove all the way from San Antonio and donated an awesome Horsehide Travel Strop to the raffle.
Jockeys who attended and brought his homemade glycerine soap for the raffle - man, that Clove Cinnamon smelled awesome (Vgod, let us know how it lathers up!) And the homemade Bay Rum whiff was inspiring, too!
And I brought some of my own pre/post Lavender shave oil to raffle as well.
Needless to say, we had lots of fun and we all got a fire lit under our collective "-ADs".
Thanks to all who attended or participated!

Thanked: 3Had a very good time. Thanks to Dewey for organizing the event. It was great to pick up tips and methods about our straight shaving. I learned how to better use that darn Radio Shack microscope. There is technique to using it and it does make a difference, thanks Vgod ! I had a chance to see Kenrup strops and I had to order one to supplement the TM that I already have. Kenrup's strops are well made and the leather he uses is top notch. I did not win that razor that John Crowley donated but I went home with some of his soaps and cologne samples. I got a chance to see some of Travellers razors and excellent scales. Great together, and looking forward to the next one !

I had a great time and felt right at home with all of you. You guys sure know how to include everyone and I am definitely in for whenever another gathering is planned!
I still have a hard time understanding how I walked in their with 1 razor that I had for less than 1 week and had never put to my face.................and walked out with free preshave oil from Dewey, and from John Crowley; free soaps, scales, fixer-upper razor, AND the Norton 4k/8k combostone that he used in the honing demo.
I ordered a strop from KenRup and sent the fixer-upper with him for a little rehab and I am really looking forward to receiving that package!
Again, thank you guys for the awesome welcome!
Tony
BTW, I had my first self-inflicted str8 shave yesterday afternoon. Only two small nicks. I think I really need that strop (hurry up Ken ) as I am already hooked!
