Thread: Philadelphia Meetup ?

I am currently living in Philadelphia. Any other members in the area interested in a gathering? I would certainly like to meet some other members. Maybe throw down a swap meet or something. I could use some pointers on honing, for sure.

But I am willing to organize something if there is enough interest.

Don't change any plans on my account, but I might be able to make it down. I've got family near NYC and friends in Deleware (or maybe it's Maryland). I'll keep an eye on the thread though.

Now, I know there are more S/R users in the area besides me and one other guy in New York State.

I'm pretty busy most all of the time but if enough people were going to get together then I'd come along too. It sure would be nice to talk razors.

BTW, maybe we could convince Lloyd "Butch" Harner to make a trip out too and show off some of his custom razors.

I used to live in Jersey, too bad. I'd love one of Geno's Cheese Steaks.....

It seems we have Jersey, NYC and Delaware covered. Is anyone in or around Reading, PA ??? I am. It shouldn't be hard to find some people in that triangle.

You would think that there would be many razor enthusiasts in the Reading - Philly - Lancaster area because of the many antique shops in that triangle. Many razors are acquired at antique shops.

Back in the 60's I went to an old fashioned
Mennonite "five and dime" store to inquire if they had any straight razors. It turns out that they had one left from the 30's, 40's or 50's and I bought it immediatey for the price marked on the box. $3.00 I still have that razor and it appears to be brand new just the way I bought it.

If you're in or around Berks County, let us know you are into str8s and say hi. Share your thoughts.

I am in the NJ/Philadelphia area a couple times a year to see the in-laws. If i am there during the meetup, i would love an excuse to get away.

I'm in York, so might be interested.

I really wish I knew where these antique shops were, I haven't driven by one around here in years. With 2 kids, I don't have time to go off driving around the countryside anymore.
