Only 3 days to go. Getting things together here. Remember to bring your Cameras and an extra lawn chair or two. For the campers you can come on Friday if you wish. I have a grill you can use and if it doesn't rain we will have a campfire and can do a weinie roast.

I can't wait! Started organizing my stuff into a trunk to bring... some razors, some tools....
...a shop was mentioned. Anyone want me to bring some materials for making scales? I'd be happy to teach (when I'm not trying to soak up honing knowledge from the masters!) and I have a lot of extra walnut and cherry blanks sitting around, already thicknessed. I'd be happy to donate some to the cause, if I know about how many to bring.

Ben,
I bought a cheap old razor at a local antique store for honing "lessons". It has a frown that may make it unusable. However, just in case the blade is salvageable I'd want to replace the black celluloid scales. They literally stink. Id love to learn how to make scales. Prefer walnut, but beggers can't be choosers - either would be nice.

Thanked: 3795I'm not sure how yet, but I'm still planning on coming. I can't find my directions from last year so BJ, could you please send them to me?
I will bring some hones if I can unearth some. (Everything in my house is buried right now.) Since Randy and Sham are coming, mine will be superfluous anyway!
I planned on bringing a Shopsmith that I converted into a 3-wheeled lathe buffer but I'm not sure I'm going to have time to take it apart and pack it. BJ, I remember in an older post you mentioned needing a drill press. Is that still the case? If so, please let me know as that will give me added incentive to bring the Shopsmith since it has that capacity.
I might take you up on the Friday night camping offer, since it's the best guarantee that I'll make it on time, but I'd likely get there pretty late.
Oh, also, does anyone have a hideous wide hollowed blade with chips that they want to convert into a narrower wedge? If so, I could bring a 90 rpm wet grinder that works great for that. It's much faster than bread-knifing. I thought it would be fun to show that done but I won't bother to bring it unless someone has a candidate blade.
I'm looking forward to this!Last edited by Utopian; 06-03-2010 at 05:58 PM.

Sorry I can't join all of you at the meet this time around. Maybe some time in the future. I wish everyone safe travels to and from the meet. Having a good time is a given! Hope some of you take lots of pictures.
