I'd still like to think we will plan one in Stroud or wherever where we have time to plan ahead and gear up. This was too last-minute really to be our OK meet I think.

There are other local guys who are interested in a meet that may not have even seen these recent posts so I think we should still plan on something between now and the coming weeks ahead

Hi Steve, welcome to SRP. There are several of us from N.E. Oklahoma around the forum.

I just got home from this get-together. We had lot of good food, fellowship and fun. There were 6 of us for this meeting, counting Hoglahoo's better half. Of course there were some great straights for us to eyeball as well as some hones to drool over. Str8razor made a few pics, so I'm sure he'll be posting some when he gets around to it.

Yes, that was a lot of fun!

Thanks for coming on such short notice, I know the official OK meet will be even better

freebird was his dapper self, I love that handlebar. Those leopardwood scales are fantastic. shutterbug's scales look really great in person, and feel so stable, light, and strong. I have not seen anything quite like them myself, very cool. I'm glad str8razor brought his amazing livis and those old one-handle seven days - I wish I'd seen that ivory handled Barber again though, I totally forgot. kevint has a really neat hoard of japanese hones, it was my first time to play with most of them. And the cherry bark strop, brush, and razor are really unique and interesting especially in person. I'm tickled pink I got to see that Greaves Harley picked up. It's a nicely vintage reground old blade

We got to spend some time honing, and passing around lots of stuff, and enjoying the company. It was good, thanks everyone for coming and Harley for pressing me to invite folks anyway on such short notice

I keep telling you guys that I'm pushy! I have to get these meets together,so I can see all the cool razors that I just dream about.
Freebird is the epitome of dapper! I was nervous for my first meet. I couldn't have hand picked a nicer group of guys. I can hardly wait for Stroud!
Freebird, kevint, Shutterbug, Str8 Razor, and Hoglahoo....thank you very much for making a newbie feel welcome and sharing all your 'treasures' with me.

I'm in OKC. I saw we had a member from Norman join in the past week or two. There are a couple of other OKC guys on as well.

I live in Chickasha so not far at all. I'm up in the city quite a bit. Let me know if anybody is getting together. Just read your post on the shaving shop at Northpark. I'll be checking it out soon.

Yesterday was pretty cool I got to meet shutterbug, kevint & HarleyFXST and had already met freebird and hoglahoo and his family. (I still haven't figured out Lee landed such a cute wife.)

We met in Chouteau at the Dutch Pantry. They were kind enough to let us meet in the back room. After eating some excellent food we got down to business showing off our shaving wares to each other. Everyone had some really neat razors, hones, razor boxes, brushes etc. I especially liked kevint's wood sculpture on his homemade scales and his method of peening the copper pins down to a very flat rivet with no collars. It looked very neat.

While were all looking at each others razors etc. shutterbug brought out his razors that he has replaced the scales on with some of his scales that he created with his amazing silversmithing talent. OMG you have to see these in person to realize what kind of skill and time is involved in doing this. The quality and skill and beauty in these scales is equal to or better than some of the razors that I have seen that were made by skilled knife makers.

I brought some of my hones and showed shutterbug, with some of the others watching, a few techniques of honing. He tried his hand at it and did very well at it. I told him that it would take some time before he got really good at.

This was a super meeting it just didn't last long enough. Meeting new people that know what you mean when you say that you shave with a straight razor where others look at you like "are you nuts" was pretty cool.

We will have to set up a meet in Stroud, OK. I will do some checking on prices and availability in Stroud and check back.

    Bill

Back row left to right: shutterbug; hoglahoo; HarleyFXST; kevint. Bottom row left to right: str8razor; freebird. (We had one of the waitresses take the picture)

These next few pictures are pics of shutterbugs scales that he has made.

if anything has been abnormal for a long enough period it then becomes normal.

Great pics! Thanks for taking and posting them. I agree, Shutterbug's scales are the bomb. I'm glad to see that the Oklahoma contingent is growing, and hope that it continues to do so.

    Hey Steven,
I'm in OKC, but my studio is in Blanchard.
