Thread: Toronto and Area Meet

What usually happens, or what has happened in the past concerning accommodations? Trillium and I were also looking for a venue very close (within stumbling distance) to affordable hotels.

Any ideas and input are greatly appreciated.

For WNY, JoeD and CarrieM host at their home, and I've had a few people over at my place. In NYC, we met at a bar owned by a friend of a member (got the upstairs to ourselves). Ft Lee is at the police pistol range, because we have a member who can get us in. This MN meet I went to was in Mike Blue's workshop.

So it really depends on what is possible, but anything can work.

Oh, you meant hotels.... WNY a bunch of us stay at JoeD and CarrieM's, and I believe there is a local hotel. For most meets, though, I think people commute from nearby. If you're comfortable and able, having people stay over can work (esp if you already know the people). Really, though, unless people are making a long drive, commuting seems fine.

IE it's about 3 hours from Roc to Toronto, so I'd drive both ways that day.

I took a look at the Pickering Recreation Complex info but if I'm reading it correctly it looks pretty pricey.

This is kinda the opposite of keeping the meet towards the outside of the city. But after Rugby games, the team used to go to Ogradys pub on college. They've got a spacious upstairs private room and I can see if they'd take us if people wouldn't mind coming to the centre of the city.

Teemus, great idea. If they'll let us hang out with a bunch of uber sharp objects and stones....I say why not! Can you let us know?

I'd didn't really think about it until it was mentioned by Teemus but we may be able to use my rugby club house. But once again it's not in the GTA. It's just north of Oshawa and would serve our purpose. I'll make the call and see.

i'll make a phone call either today or tomorrow and report back. good idea trillium, rugby club houses are great places.

So I talked to a manager on friday afternoon who said that its free to book the upstairs room. He said he would call me back regarding the date, but I haven't heard anything from him yet. I wasn't sure how to bring up that we'd be bringing straight razors, so I figured I'd let him know when he called back. I'm in Calgary for the week so hopefully I hear back soon. Happy Family day to everyone!

I'm still waiting to hear back from the rugby club and they maybe waiting to see what there schedule is like.
