Thread: Chicago Wet Shavers Get Together

As posted on other boards, Dslazar9 and I arranged a get together for wet shavers in Chicago in conjunction with The Merz Apothecary, and Mantic59, (Mark), and is going to be promoted and sponsored by Chicago Palmer House Hilton and Men's Book Chicago Magazine. The Merz Apothecary is an old fashioned shaving store with razors, soaps, brushes, DE Razors, straight razors, bath soaps, colognes, aftershaves, and accoutrements. Merz has arranged for the Empire Room in the Palmer House, and is working on inviting vendors from brush, soap, DE razor, straight razor, aftershave, and scent companies; and having shaving demonstrations,. The Merz will stay open during the event, and will offer discounts on products.

The date is November 10, 2011, with the exact time to be determined later. As stated, the event is going to be sponsored and promoted by Men's Book Chicago Magazine and the Chicago Palmer House Hilton Hotel. Mantic59 (Mark) has confirmed his attendance for this date and has agreed to be a speaker. The location is the Empire Room in the Palmer House. They are working on catering and having beverage tasting. Men's Book Chicago Magazine is also working on bringing in barber chairs and having professionals giving free straight razor shaves. There will be a VIP area for forum members, which will open earlier to promote face-to-face conversations between the members. The Chicago Palmer House Hilton Hotel has a beautiful lobby bar, which would be a perfect setting for additional shaving talk and a meet and greet!

So if you are located in the Chicago area or relatively close like parts of Indiana, Wisconsin, and Michigan, or if you want to connect face-to-face with those with whom you have been chatting online, this is likely to be a great event and an opportunity to share some laughs with others who actually understand our hobby and acquisition disorders. Lastly, my understanding is Men's Book Chicago Magazine will do a special article to highlight wet shaving and the community.
