Thanked: 13246Initiatives (giveaways, contests, group buys, etc.) policy
All initiatives such as giveaways, contests, group buys, etc. are either organized by SRP staff or in cooperation with SRP staff. They can only be conducted according to the rules and decisions of SRP staff. This does not apply to individual instances such as giving away a razor or a brush, or other minor stuff.
This policy has been put in place to avoid legal and other consequences for SRP. First and foremost, SRP staff need to take into consideration about what is best for the SRP community and for the SRP's reputation.
1. If a group buy goes sour and someone takes off with the money, we are left with the aftermath.
2. If someone were to run a high stakes contest with himself as the sole judge, it has the potential to tear this community apart.
3. If someone were to organize an activity that involves valuable items with a dodgy ownership status, or which would involve taxes, or which would violate gaming laws, we would be the ones answering questions from men with suits.
As soon as anything needs organizing or becomes more valuable, it needs the written approval of SRP staff. If you intend to run such an initiative contact a Moderator via PM or email.
Please don't make us do our Mod Jobs
It is clearly against the rules on the open forum, you can take this to pm's or you can get a Mod involved but Group buys cannot just be posted on the forum..Last edited by gssixgun; 02-06-2012 at 11:21 PM.

Thanked: 48Apologize, I have seen other people doing this in the forum from time to time... Maybe they were all staff. How does one become staff?

Thanked: 48Hey everyone,
Glen pointed me to 'Groups' under the 'Community' link at the top and I started the 'Atlanta Wet Shavers' Group to give us a place to organize informal meet-ups outside of the main forum.

Thanked: 4942I just wanted to thank Will, Moose and Daryl for getting this gathering off the ground. What a great time had by all!!
Cathy and I stayed with Will and his wife Sonia and the hospitality extended was unreal. We had such a good time. Thanks so much!!! I think I'm still full from the fantastic steaks and sushi.
Getting to catch up with Simon, Rob, Greg and Joe was like getting to see family. Thanks for the shave Simon!!
It was a great opportunity to meet a bunch of fun-loving wetshavers in the Atlanta and SE US area. I hope you guys can get together frequently and continue to have as much fun as we had.
I also hope to see you all again soon and will remember this past weekend for a long time to come.
All the best guys!Last edited by Lynn; 02-07-2012 at 10:22 PM.

I had a freaking awesome time. I will go to more in the future. They're addictive. Everyone was so genuine and acted as if they have known you forever. So giving of their talents and time. I actually have honed up a couple of blades! Though, with sicboater and coully and that whole crew having us all laughing the whole time, I'm not sure much got done. Great group of guys.
I learned more about steel and beer than I thought possible.http://ashevillewetshavers.weebly.com/ April 26-27th come to one of the greatest meet ups of wet shavers!
