We have the place to meet and we will meet at Manuel's Tavern which is on the corner of Highland Ave and North Ave in Atlanta. This is just ten minutes from Decatur and Daryl is looking into some accomodations right next door. You can go to manuelstavern.com to take a look and the address is:

602 N Highland Avenue Northeast Atlanta, GA 30307-1433
    (404) 525-3447

This is a great place and is an Atlanta institution as well as a personal favorite of mine and it has plenty of free parking. There are MARTA rail lines that run from the airport to within a mile or so of Manuel's so we could arrange to pick people up if necessary.

I think I had my first (legal) beer there way back when. I have arranged for us to have a room called "The Eagle's Nest" and we can run individual tabs or a group tab. We will have the room from 11:00 am till 6:30 pm on Sat and Sunday is open to start at the same time. We don't have to leave at 6:30, I just had to give them an end time to reserve the room. There will always be room for us at Manuel's if anyone wants to stay on into the evening.

I think this is shaping up to be a great, no, fantastic event.

OK ONCE AGAIN SO YOU DON"T HAVE TO LOOK BACK IN THE THREAD!!!!

No there is no cost to attend, just come. You can and should take the time to look back a little in the thread and find out a little of what will be going on if you want to know. In any case this is going to be a fantastic meet and a great chance to learn, meet and share some knowledge, fun and a brew or two.

This is not a highly structured event with an agenda. People will be coming and going I am sure. You will have to be there to win a raffle prize. I know that for sure because I am handling the raffle and making the custom brush for the raffle.

I have reserved a small block of rooms at the Highland Inn less than a block from where we will be meeting. Here is the address and phone number.

    Highland Inn
644 North Highland Avenue Atlanta, GA 30306
    (404) 874-5756
    Kristin is the contact

You should tell them that you are with SRP and you have TWO WEEKS to make your reservations if you wish to stay there and they do not have a great number of rooms available, but we are assured of up to 10 if you respond quickly. The rate for a room with a double bed is $78.66 and for a queen $85.95. You can try expedia to make the reservation if you wish, but it will not get much better. I tried to do a link to their site, but being one of the younger dinosaurs in the herd, that ability was just not in me.

You can google them and take a look around and you will see the expedia rate of $42 but that does not include the $20 fee or the 17% total tax fee which will bring you right back up to the rates they gave me today.

Like Rob (sicbboater) says there are tons of great places to eat and drink in this area. It is an old but well kept hotel in a trendy area. You could literally crawl the 1/2 block from Manuel's Tavern to your room, not that any of us have ever had to do such a thing (that we would admit).

I hope this helps the cause a little, and feel free to contact me if you need more info.

Well... looks like I'll be there. DOS won't deploy us until April. Does anyone have any Project Management or Systems Analysis temp work I can do? ;->

Rolls Razor doesn't have the stone, so I'm not trying it. Found a nice Laurel Safety Razor I'm thinking on pulling the trigger on until I get a SR. It's a full size open comb and need to verify it takes standard blades.

I'm on a quest now and I'm outtacontrol...

Glad you will be there. I have to believe that you are gonna leave this meet up with a straight. I don't know about the Laurel, but I can probably come up with a Gillette Tech or something for you.

Not a bad idea to have both, especially if you are not comfortable with just a straight. Lots of people shave the hard spots and clean up with a DE. Nothing wrong with that at all and will save you many nicks in the mean time.

Looks fun i'll just need parking for my semi 5-10 spots in a row should do depending on how there oriented. Should i bring my 3/4hp 1100rmp buffer? If someone has a stand and some extinson cords and a small lader we can run it in the back of my trailer.

Attention Vendors: If you have a product, service, or related item you would like the folks at our upcoming meetup to know about, let me know. We will make a space available for samples, brochures, photos, etc.

Just drop me a private message and we can make arrangements.

Many thanks for all you do to support this fine group!
