Thanked: 48Met up with Moosiker tonight to talk shop and we had a great time at the Brick Store. He will be helping build excitement for the meetup and trying to expand our online presence to draw in the crowd. Really feeling good about building a club right here in Atlanta!

Sounds awesome! I am still kicking myself for missing out on Asheville, NC a couple of years ago. VERY glad to see this coming together. Just totally excited about it.

Hey! You beat me to the punch. I just got a big dose of "Straight Razor 101" from one GoovyD. Many thanks for his patience, focus, generosity, and sheer talent. Can't thank you enough - I'm still taking in everything I learned this evening.
Folks, if you are "thinking about attending"...come on down. We will try to give you some Southern hospitality. More details to come!

Thanked: 48Looking forward to hearing how the shave goes with the MdC, the scuttle, the freshly honed razor, and the Proraso splash! I grated up the Williams you gifted me and put it in a bowl to try out tomorrow! Thanks for a good get together!

This morning's shave was much easier. The MdC is incredible - like whipping egg whites. Scuttles - totally rock.
How odd that a sharp razor shaves better than a dull one major karma points to GroovyD.

A FEW QUESTIONS: If you are planning on attending the SE/Atlanta Meetup,
* What would you expect to find? Formal structure? Informal party?
* Are there any activities you would be interested in?
* Would you like presentations? Videos? Classes? Facilitated discussions?
I am really looking forward to meeting all the "like minded" shavers!

First off, good to meet you Mike. Who would have thought we grew up in the same neighborhood!!
Here is what I understand a meet up usually is according to a very knowledgeable fellow:
Normally it starts with a general get together and show and tell of OOooooooo lookie at these razors, Ooo that brush is sweet, and a small scratch and sniff on every soap, cream and AS that everyone brings
Then it breaks down to eats drinks and talking
Then Honing and razor maintenance followed by test shaves and shaving help for newbs with the freshly honed blades...
At least every one that I have gone to has followed that
Now I will go for every bit of that and perhaps more. I am really looking forward to some hands on honing instruction. I think we need to bring along our pride and joys to show and maybe have a little trading going on if there are some razors, creams, AS's that are good stuff, but just not your cup of tea?
As I stated before, I am going to bring a bunch of shaving goodies (creams, alum, etc.) to raffle off and I am going to turn a custom badger brush to raffle off to some lucky bast.....uh, person that attends.
We are still working on a good location for those that need accomodations. I walked down to The Highland Inn to look at a room today after lunch. It has a ton of Character and is a 30's era hotel less than a block from Manuel's Tavern. Very quaint, but clean. I will check on a block of room rates tomorrow and possibly put this up as an option.
