Thanks for the nagura chunks Nelson. I plan to have my next purchase be a hone, so I'll put them to good use. Next time we have one of these get togethers I'll bring you one of my favorite cigars (La Flor de Llaneza pyramid).

Yes. His wife made that case for him.

He let me take out and look at all his razors. It was a religious experience.

I just wanted to put it out there that i just took a shave with my 9/8 w&b which was taken from the ground up on the hones by nelson and the shave was exquisite. I have had all my honing done by lynn and srd to date but jumped on the opportunity to have nelson put an edge on my razor. I must say the polish on the edge left me with a buttery smooth WTG, no effort on 3 day growth. XTG and ATG grain no tug or pull, just the way god, intended. I highly recommend nelson for any one who has a dull razor and even duller honing skills if you are local to him..... i think he said he lives in staten island.

A case worthy of Birnando's collection - each one a work of art!

I have to agree with JoeL on this one.

I finally shaved with my Shumate 256 that Nelson honed for me and all I can say is DAMNNN! Smooth shave and beautiful finish. The only problem I had was that I was trying out a new shaving cream (C.O Bigelow) and I have a really bad case of the razor burns.

AND to top it all off, my last final pass under the faucet with the SR and guess what?? Ding the damn blade against it! DAMNNNN IT!! So its time for it to go back to Nelson!!

I can see a day where you can tell if a guy uses a straight razor by the presence of a hunk of rubber gasket that's attached to the faucet (to protect the blade). Otherwise, the line to Nelson's door forms to the right....
