Had not come back here since i put up the post regarding his passing.. Very nice to see all of the posts.. I did know Bart a little better than presumed from my post and from what i did know of him he would have said "All this fuss about me? just bury in the back 40 and thats good enough:.. I had more contact with things we had in common not SR related.. I told him that i had to get going soon because I am volunteer driver taking medicare patients who cant drive/no transportation, etc to Drs/Lab/Hospital visits,etc.. Well wouldnt you know he had a number of Veterans in his neck of the woods doing the same for them, And on his own dime!! One guy i remember him saying that he took 3 days a week over 150miles round trip.. So we talked quite a bit about that and i could tell by his language that it was really hurting to see a lot of his Service brothers of the Vietnam era passing away by age and health problems.. Impression i got was a small amount of Survival Guilt. ): ):
Thank you ScottGoodman.. You reminded me about his love for Skeet/Trap shooting.. I mentioned that i had been out for grouse and woodcock and that if my wife was relying on me to bring home dinner that it was going be salad.. All i got was a lot of green and brown foliage ;).. Had a good laugh about that and then tells me he is an Avid shotgunner but isnt real good, just fun.. Tells me some of the numbers for hits to misses . Believe when i say i didnt hear many misses.. lol, Humble to soul
Lastly we talked on a number of occasions about motorcycles.. Always seemed to have been brought up when im looking out the window with blizzard type conditions and he's looking out his saying its ki d of chilly hear today with highs in the upper 50's but as long as no rain he'd be on bike in the afternoon.. Poor guy.. Felt awful for him having to decide on if its a medium or heavy jacket day. ;)
I am sorry about such an extended post but he deserved better from me and i felt bad for not spending the 10min to do it..
I never met Bart in person and would have really liked to have been able to.. He seemed to be one of those men that was humble, honest, gave and did not want anything in return, respectful, never remember any post or comment he made in a negative way or intent.. I would bet all my wifes jewelry :) if anyone had been to his funeral that you would have overheard a lot of indivdual stories Bart had done for people because he wanted to not because had to...
Thanks for anyone who read this rambling post
    RIP brother!
