Thanked: 3795I have a longshot favor to ask. Randy had a habit of buying things that made things better for the Texas meet ups. In other words, he bought stuff like refrigerators and grills to leave at Charlie?s shop without asking for Charlie?s permission. Charlie had the perfect meetup location and Randy had the force of will to make Charlie unlock his doors every year. Randy controlled everything beyond that.
Well, one year Randy and I stopped at a new consignment store and found a pair of faux leather chairs and we bought them and without permission from Charlie planted them in his shop. I have seen many photos of people sitting in those chairs.
Please, if by some chance, anyone has a photo of Randy and me sitting in our chairs, I would greatly appreciate getting that photo.

Not to beat a dead horse but I don't think this point was properly made and bares clarification:
Somewhere in the annals there was a discussion about Arks that I was partucipating in. Randy chimed in and said something to the effect of, "please explain this to me because I was never able to have success with Arks." My immediate thought was, this is Randy isn't it?...Randy Tuttle?...randydance...??? I felt like John The Baptist (reference given for historical purposes, not religious) when Jesus Christ came to him to be baptized. "John would have prevented him, saying, 'I need to be baptized by you, and do you come to me?' " MT 3:14
In my mind the sign of someone who truly knows his oats is someone who can say on a topic he is versed in, "...I don't know." Many is the man who will make it up, BS, blow smoke or even hold silent. Few are the men who will not let ego or pride stand in the way of forthrightness and learning. I truly respect a man who is willing to do so. Randy was one such man.Iron by iron is sharpened, And a man sharpens the face of his friend. PR 27:17

I first met Randy in 2004 at Ray's meet in Kansas City after I had somehow come to the conclusion that going to out of state razor meets was a good way to save money on shaving. When he and Ron pulled in in a Cady with sagging springs from all the stones in the trunk everyone around me knew who they were. I think that I saw him at every meet after that.

I once carried his anvil to Charlies in my truck to save springs on the Caddy. LOL

Thanked: 433I'll really miss Randy, he taught me how to hone and was the best host ever. He would have impromptu newbie honing classes and most often or not I would join in as well

Thanked: 3795Hey, we used to try to pack the heaviest stuff in the back seat for better weight distribution!
I really enjoyed all those long rides with him.

I witnessed the loaded Caddy myself. Slammed! Said he had quite a trip home in the snow....
"Don't be stubborn. You are missing out."
I rest my case.
