I don't have a "weeping hone story" as such, the best I can offer, is that I have bought a Platypus razor from eBay (as an Aussie I liked the Platypus - one of our native animals), but is FAR from shave ready - I cant wait to try it and have never restored or honed a razor before. Ive got the money aside for some honing equipment, but am waiting until I meet up with some of the local members on the 2nd March to see honing in action and to help me to choose the honing equipment I should get, so until then I can only look at the razor, perhaps polish it a bit, but wont be able to actually use it for another month unfortunately

Luckily the guys at the meetup have offered their help, so at least I know that once it is honed it will be a good shave

NOOOOO! Then I'll have bad karma until my wife pulls Bigspendr's wife's "sweep and kick" on me while I'm honing. Now you have to enter!

I'm wondering if we can have two categories for this thread. These stories are good and worthy, but I don't know if any of you have read the fake Amazon "Customer Review" entries that surface now and then...too funny! I'm thinking the latent talent for a tall yarn in the SRP population has got to produce some gut busters. What say we have the second category that has to start out their "experience" with the phrase; "It was a dark and stormy night", or whatever?

For example, search Amazon for Tuscan Whole Milk 1 Gal 128 fl oz.

I had my Nogura basking in the sun on the counter and the missus comes along and nonchalantly sweeps it off the counter onto the floor where it broke in two. So, I say what did you just do? She says do? I didn't do anything. I said you swept my honing stone onto the floor and broke it. She said, I hadn't noticed as she proceeds to kick it clear across the room. if she had been playing hockey she would have knocked the goalie out of the box with that kick.

Luckily it was just a slurry stone. If it had been an actual hone I'd probably be on death row right now.

And no I never did figure out why she did that.
Sounds like retribution or a reckoning. You probably upset her 6 months ago.

I bought this Escher for just $60, but sold it later for more than I paid for it because I thought to myself "it's just a rock, I will get extra $ and make do with my other finishing hone(s)"

Well, if someone wants to donate a prize we can run that contest after this one is done. I don't think it would be wise to mix the two.
