    Better...?

    The vendor, alas, he sighed
    And some forumites decried,
    Such blackguard bid retraction,
    Of eBay's foulest faction.

The Vendor sat forlorn and dejected,
The sale took place - the bid was retracted.
Oh well, thought he, it could have been worse,
Some numbskulls could have put the lot down in verse!

One ought to be careful when bandying words such as 'numbskull' among company to whom a fascination towards incredibly sharp cutting implements constitutes their Raison d'être.

    Sad Little Hone

A poor little hone sat tattered and broken.
    As the world looked on,,,
there were few words of love spoken.

    With grease on it's back
    and slurry in it's eyes,,,
the little hone cried, "It's only a crack."

    Please buy me a home,
    where the straight razors roam.

    Hit the "Bid Now" button
    and please don't stop.

I want to rest my worn body,
next to a Neil Miller strop.

The OP may take heart from this - His jilted purchase may have been a carborundum stone, which would make for some delicious irony.

Love it Hirlau! Owes a bit to Home On The Range, though:

Oh give me a home where the straight razors roam
Where the IXL and the NON-XL play
Where seldom is heard a discouraging word
And the skies are not cloudy all day
    Hone, hone on the range
