Default Is this an old coticule?

Antique Razor Sharpening Stone Hone Two Toned Broke in 2 | eBay

It looked like it might be an old coticule. I thought it could be worth cleaning up, and is cheap.

What are your opinions? Coticule or no?

Ya I was having a hard time seeing through the dirt. Always worth a gamble when something is under 20$ imo.

This one was not worth the gamble. It's a synthetic hone.

how do you know it's synthetic? looking at the color at where it broke, from something synthetic I would expect something more homogeneous.

I agree it's not a coticule but maybe some tyoe of sandstone would be my guess

I probably just won't pay and have them relist. I don't mind copping out on ebay when I have to.

That's just the attitude I like - NOT. You should have done your homework first.

I totally agree with Neil, that not the attitude i would like when one was buying from me.

...and up to date all answers written here were guesses...so i would wait receiving this one...an then regretting not doing the homework first if it turns our a synthethic....
