    Wow man , and i was thinking that i am a maniac. Look at those laboratories , microscopes , advanced tecnique , specal light and artificial stones .
    I was thinking that i am at good level . With 15 natural hones and few strops and pastes , for me is enought that the razor pops hairs barely touching them. And i was thinking that i know something about razors and honing . Look at those guys .

    In my short Honing Journey (4 yrs) I learned how to hone,I honed for myself and some friends and myself all were happy.
    Than I got that high power scope and things went to hell in a handbasket real quik.
    I started to see to many things that I tried to correct and all went downhill,I did great with a small handloop before.
    Do not hone anymore,sold all my toys,with the money I made off the toys,I can send my blades out for 20 yrs to have a real pro do them

    That is funny or ironic. I just received a microscope and it is too powerful to judge an edge. 50x on the microscope makes edges look like the moon craters and forget 100 or 1000. You would not attempt to shave with the edge. Just pop hair and call it a day

    Hello friends,

    I have a problem with my 500 stones. When putting every one in a box or wrapping them in bubblewrap I do not have space enough to store them. So I store them side by side on the shelf - see photograph. This year we have undertaken an other study trip. We visited 15 countries and have collected 75 new stones. The new stones are covered in Section 5 of the "Grinding and honey" series we hope to finish by Spring 2015.

    I store the following hones dry in my closet:
    * DMT 325
    * Naniwa 12K
    * Woodstock 1K/6K

    The following stones get used often, so I store them in a water/bleach mix (1/4 tsp bleach : 1 cup water) in plastic containers, under my bathroom sink. I've been using the same water mix for a year now with no problems.
    * King 220/1000
    * Norton 4K/8K
