Default I"m Actually Settled on Hones-You?

Odd last it might sound, I haven't lusted for new hones in a couple years. I use the Naniwa super-stones, setting the bevel at 1000, then using the dual-grit hone 3K/8K and then finish on the 12K. I started using a sequence posted here as a recommendation for beginners, and it worked like a dream for me. I have a couple barber hones for touch-ups, but this basic 1K/3K/8K/12K sequence has worked wonderfully.

So I feel like I don't really want any more hones.

Is there something… wrong… with me? I'm kinda troubled by this.

Anyone else satisfied with your hones for a long time and not hankering for something different or new?

Not been honing for too long but basically Naniwa SS 1/3/8/12K followed by a Crox pasted strop does it for me. No real urge to try other hones out for some reason. Then again I am not chasing the ultimate edge either just one that works for me.

    I envy your serenity.

For me, as a honeaholic, it's one day at a time.

You better watch it. That's dangerous talk.

I was good until Zulu had a sale. Then I had to buy a coticule and Escher to compare them. Now I am done.

    Maybe...

I have a Norton 22/1000, 4k/8k, and a Naniwa 12k. A diamond hone for lapping, and a diamond spray strop for touch ups. This has suited me for the last five years. I would love to try a coticule, but I can't justify pulling the trigger without knowing what I'll end up with. Just to darn cheap...lol. But I get great edges so it isn't a huge rush to get something.

I still have a single grit Norton 4, and an 8, and I really like them, but don't use them often. Mostly use the Chosera 1-3-5-10 in series, and the Suehiro 20k for finishing.

I have one Escher y/g and a half dozen coticules. I would move all but a couple of those but it is a nostalgia thing.

I rarely use them, but it is like living 8 miles from the ocean ..... I may never go, but it is nice knowing it is there in case I ever want to.

Depends on the razor. I do like the zulu on most edges. The coticule and Escher seem to leave more of a scratch pattern but shave well also
