Thanked: 26Coti number 2
I got a standard from ardennes coti site, ever since learning more about them and finding out there are differing grades and veins ect, i have been keeping a look out for reasonably priced coticules.
long story short, new coti.

Thanked: 11I think I bid on that one recently. was it sold as an oil stone without the mention of either coticule or belgian? If so then I was one of the guys bidding on it.
Hope you like it. Coticules are awesome stones I hope that you have slurry stones. you can change the way they work completely by using different slurries.

Thanked: 90I was watching that one too. Glad someone here got it. Let us know how she performs.
nice looking stone. I know they say that old and new are all tthe same, but I feel like they were pickier back in the day. Plus they got character too.

Thanked: 26Just arrived today in the post and im a little torn about whether to leave it in the paddle or to carve it out and free it from its shackles and see what really is down there.
What are your opinions folks?

Thanked: 11Maybe you can loosen it from the padle by gently heating it in the oven. Just on as low a setting as you can.

Thanked: 26The results on the shave test are in. Its a lot harder than my other coticule, almost glass like feel to it. I gave it a light slurry as the razor was not in major need of honing. Ran a Dovo "BQ" with light slurry then water till i could feel the difference on arm hair. I think the best way i would describe it is deceptive, it has the smoothness of a coti hone but i thought on my first stroke i didnt feel as keen as the edge from my other coti (maybe this was just difference in razor as i have been using a huge Kropp latley) until i felt how close it actually came on my WTG pass. Very nice smooth edge, happy bloke

Leave it in its paddle. A stone with so many cracks should be left in peace, you only risk destroying it. One chip of the coticule is already missing.
