Ok hope this worked

Good it worked. Also forgot to mention I didn't have to do any lapping. It was already done to the level of dry mirror reflection. I was not looking forward to doing that on a hone like this with wet dry sandpaper on a granite slab. Plus I usually do this outside and it has been raining for over a week with no end in sight.

Alright. My understanding is that these types of stones don't have a grit rating. Is that correct? Second if it did I would put this above my really nice SRD thuri. After 2 shaves with different razors off of this stone. I have gotten the smoothest most comfortable shaves ever. Plus for the first time after a shave on both these razors I did not have one single spot even under my chin where I felt the Alum block.

Next to those who say never use a finisher after a finisher. I guess if you use this after a coti and a thuri those would just become part of a progression like any other stone and the CF would be the finisher. So if one follows the idea of honing progression going up in grit rating wouldn't you want to do this. Instead of say going from a coti that my be 10k to a CF. Wouldn't you want to put a say 15K thuri in the middle if we are just for hypothetical reasons saying a CF is at 20K.

I guess down the road I may need to buy a JNAT to try the slurry idea on this stone. Not sure I would need to do this though. Just having fun and playing around to find my best results.

I see why a knife guy would sell this stone. I think it is way too fine for knives. Unless you like to shave with them. I can't stop touching my face. This stone is incredible to me. I thought after coticules I was good, then I found thuringian, but this is past all those. I don't know if it is because of my progression going from coti, thuri, to CF, but I don't get this crisp edge everyone talks about with the CF. Mine would probably be stupid sharp off of oil, I only use water and it feels like the back side of a butter knife just sliding over my face gently, but leaves not even a trace of hair behind, and I am going almost another full day before needing to shave. Problem is I want to shave again sooner.

I get that effect from my old yellow translucent Arkansas but it takes 300ish laps coming from another finisher. That cf would probably need to have the surface refreshed often with coarser grits to do knives.

I did 200 laps last night with a John Barber stub tail wedge. I enjoy doing the laps though. I actually hand hone even with this heavy stone. It seems to help me relax and just forget about everything around me. What I don't understand is this razor always seemed really sharp and I usually would get a nik while shaving under my nose between my mustache, but now it shaves even better and closer with no nik's and feels like I won't cut myself at all.

Never had a cf, but ark edges are extremely forgiving that way

I have a question. How does the hone look dry and wet? Does it show different pattern when wet? What I mean like another direction of streaks appeared when wet?

There is more pattern wet that you can not see as well dry.

I use with satisfaction my CF with oil. the difference with water is appreciable...with oil the edge is more comfortable. ( used only Lansky)
