How would you determine if the label was fake under lacquer?

If you bought a generic stone in a real box at least you would have a box. If the label is glued to the stone you wouldn't have either.

Same here. I am not sure and no expert however.

Sorry, not trying to make anyone paranoid or cast nasturtiums!

All I am saying is that the only thing you know for sure is that there is an escher label stuck to a box.

I've seen a lot of eschers, and I've never seen a phony one. That is not to say it couldn't happen. If you've seen enough of them you'll know them even without the label.

The guy who is throwing the raffle is probably doing a smart thing. IME the market for Eschers goes up and down. A year or two ago some of them were bringing eight or nine hundred dollars and now they seem to be going for less than half of that. Perhaps the raffle will pay off for the guy.

Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Nothing to be sorry about you bring up a valid point.

Does it have an end label? Course, they can be color copied also...

Bought a dark blue with just the remnant of a blue end label, the stone is almost black.
