Thread: Is this an Escher?

I know Eschers came with all sort of labels but I couldn't find this particular one and just wanted to see if anyone here knew for certain if it is indeed an Escher. Thanks.

I thought that little goblet was an escher trademark, but I'm no expert.

Rubbing stone looks black. Can the OP show pics of the hone?

Again, I'm no expert, but I haven't seen that many vintage eschers that are that dark. It does not mean it's not real or good quality. The size is quite nice unless the guy has tiny hands.

The old Escher goblet had the letters 'E & Co' within the goblet. So if they are there it probably is. If not, I don't know. Whatever it is, if it is a good razor hone that is all that really matters. OTOH, if the seller is claiming it is an Escher, and asking a premium, than it is a big deal.

A black Escher? There is such a thing, I am certain.

A guy has it for raffle on a FB page. Advertised as an Escher. I'll take a gamble for $10 I suppose.

Well, fur ten bucks it is probably worth it just to see how a razor is on it. I wonder if the noun 'Escher' is becoming like 'Coca Cola' no matter what brand of soft drink it is ? Or a better analogy, like a "Crescent" wrench. Whether is it is J.H. Williams, a Westcott, or a S&K, guys call all adjustable wrenches 'crescent' wrenches.

Just buy the damn thing, already. Before we get there!
