    It's arrived......

Pictures need to be taken. It's not a slate.

    140 x 70 x 20 exact.

0 face wear, no dishing, looks like it's been used once or twice then shelved.

Looks to be a tight grained La Lorraine. Some blue lines not many. And covered in small white spots through the whole stone. White layer lines in the side.

I think we have a winner. More pics will follow tomorrow with the daylight.

All I've done is wash and wet it.

The price I paid for this rock I feel like I stole it!

Just lapped it. Damn it's soft! 325 grit ate it really fast, so I took it to 600 thinking it would slow down a little, Then to 1K diamond. Even at 1K it was insane at producing slurry! The sink water was bright purple and I was only getting a few laps before needing to dab the stone in the sink. I did the sides and chamfer with the 1K plate without any problems. It's a really pleasant stone to deal with. Feels nice in the hands, solid heavy but also warm.

Right honing theory for this stone.

It should auto slurry at a fast rate. The slurry increases cutting power.

I should be able to take a razor off a 1k chosera, directly to this stone with slurry.

Then just work the razor and kill each slurry reducing the number of strokes between each clean up. Since the auto slurry is fast it's not the same method as dilucoti.

So 1st stage 30 passes, kill slurry.
    25 passes, kill slurry.
    20 passes, kill slurry.
    15 > 10 > 5 > 3 > 2 > 1.

That should give the best possible final polish and if I'm lucky will pass the HHT as well.

The stone if it's right should be able to go from set bevel to shaving without any other stone correct? And If I wanted to I could set a bevel with it as well just run a thicker slurry for longer.

There is a lot of information about coti's and BBW's but these stones seem to have a much smaller cult following! Sebastian I'm looking at you right now.... You appear in every thread on every forum with more information than anyone else! So if my theory is wrong shoot it down hard and correct it!

It depends a bit on the stone, you know we talk naturals. I had stones beeing softer more tending into autoslurrying, i had harder stones where i created slurry with a DMT....

I would try to use it after a 1k Bevel Set and try to proceed with thicker slurry, so just try the mentioned procedure and see what happens....and report back here!!

If you have a solid material (f.ex. Wedges) you can work with more pressure then with full hollows...there you can try to bevel set with La Lorraine, actually the better choice would be a Our Levant stone its coarser then La Lorraine...

Its possible but it also needs time....

Holy shit! I shouldnt have posted too much on those [emoji23]

I have a willing victim. It might take me a day or 2 to get it on the rock. And I need pictures in daylight before I push a razor on it I think.

My wife thinks I'm insane.... I've been running about the house, grabbing things like the camera, tape measure, straight edge, DMT's. I've been grinding in the sink like a caveman, and I had a pet rock on my knee when I ate dinner...... I might like the rock.

Yea, I’d have bought it just because of the size, razor size. I have several and finish after a 12k super stone, on water then few drops of mineral oil.

Wash with Dish soap when finished, nice finishers. Great buy.

Only someone on this forum would make a natural stone their pet rock. Eating breakfast and petting the hone. "Don't worry Lorraine, I'll be back later after work and I'll pet you with my wedges."
