I think 'High BS Grit' is a useful term. I'm not taking credit for it, I just inferred it from post #3.

The beauty of the wetshaving community is things tend to get exposed for what they actually are rather quickly. See what people are still buying and having success with after a year and you have a fair idea of what new stuff is the real deal and who are the pretenders.
100% agree, the same reason why I didn't get attracted by this rock, also I see lots of what I consider marketing goes around it.... Anyhow, I have not tested one yet neither I am planning to acquire one, I rather spend the money on a Zulu as I yet to try one of those too, but whenever I have money to spend it usually goes to JNats or super cotis.

Yes, I do believe you are right. The person originally selling these stones is trying to market it as a natural from Italy. Some like it & some don't but that's where personal preference comes in & also the way it is being used. Everyone has their own technique along with their own opinion of it. As I mentioned before, I almost bought one but decided to get something else............something that had more credibility to it instead of this one being supposedly from Italy, then South America. When I start hearing things like that, red flags go up. It might very well be a good stone but why would the person marketing them hee-haw around about where they come from? A natural is a natural, no matter where it's from..................somewhere's in this world, but it's always nice to know its origin.

After reading all the hype and visiting the original vendor's web site, I lost all interest in the stone. To cut to the chase, I don't like doing business with BS'ers.

I know exactly what you mean. I bought myself a j-nat instead at the time, a really nice Ozuku.

Yes, thanks. I have a few stones, synthetic & naturals. I love both but IMHO I think naturals are special in their own way.

Who cares where it comes from! I understand why they don't want to tell people... obvious its something not incredibly difficult to get so if everyone knows.. guess what? Those guys at Imperia are out looking for a new career! Instead of doing something they love RAZOR STUFF!
I decided to give the smaller non premium 15k version a try. To be dead honest, the stone polishes like crazy, but you need a light touch. It is much faster than an arkansas stone for sure. I pass the hanging hair test like you wouldn't believe coming off the stone.

On the other hand... the edges are a bit TOO sharp in my opinion. It is similar to finishing off synthetic stones. It doesn't seem to give me that "natural" stone edge where they feel smoother than synths. But I got to say... it does polish really high and it does create a very sharp edge. Not comfy against the grain as was previously said.

Actually the community point was never that they should have to tell everybody where they got their stones from. Nobody would ask for that....

Its a point how to deal seriously with people of the wetshaving community. The interesting point is that there are a lot of quite common stones which are sold from other members of the community under a specific trademark. They have been serious with the people and communicated as it should be.

Others were pissed of the reactions which occured on the forums...and got angry so far that their posts have been closed. So all is a game of action and reaction. For me in the end a personal decision not to support or buy the La Roccia in any way.

But i well appreciate any details/reviews and i surely can accept if someome likes the stones. In the end its an individual decision what you want to buy and what youre going to support.
