Thanked: 169I used to have a small one that looked like that. It cut fairly aggressively and wasn't particularly fine.

Thanked: 13247Jerry my friend
Little story about Coticules
I bought an 8x3 Select Grade years before the whole "Vein Name" thing started used it for years, still use it nearly everyday on Sheffield razors, it is a true finisher..
So I Posted Pics I asked the "Coticuleers" from Bart on down what they thought it was when the whole "Vein" thing started, I have taken it to almost every meet I have gone to since 2008 maybe 2009
What have I learned ????
It has been deemed every stupid name for every stupid vein out there and a few I am pretty sure they made up on the spot..
I call it a "Select Grade Colticule" and enjoy the hone
How does yours work on edgesLast edited by gssixgun; 05-24-2016 at 04:03 PM.

Thanked: 3795Every single time someone asks to identify their coticule, I have to resist the urge to reply, "yup, that's a coticule."

Do the spots look anything like manganese ? I have seen manganese come through in lines, and in blotchy circley spots ? Usually larger than that though.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

The fun is in guessing, the value is in its performance.
It doesn't matter what vein the stone is from unless you are a collector and into that kind of thing. I myself enjoy knowing which vein a stone is from for my collection. That is the only reason. I have used coticules from veins deemed "inferior" that were better then some from the "choice" veins.
If it makes the owner happy, then others will happily take a guess.

You need side photos to properly ID the coticule.
Thanks Jerry.

Thanked: 98I am looking forward to Glens meet, I have yet to experience a Known Coticule smooth edge, maybe I go too much on the 800power side of the microscope looking for the smooth premium edge that I can not seem to get from my La Veinette (self determined) natural combo.
