Thanked: 7I'm having trouble uploading pics on my iPhone.
I'm sorry for the confusion, Utopian. I am seeing a clear polish, very shiny, what looks to me like a good bevel but won't pass the thumb pad test. It doesn't have that cleave-my-thumb open feeling. Does 6/8 bevel set feel different from a 5/8? All my other razors are 5/8, and the bevels they take feel far different than the Clauss does now.
I tried the marker test, It took off metal very quickly.
I will upload pics soon.

It shouldn't feel different as far as I can say, though I am more visual, don't have the best fingertip sensation due to frostbite. How does the edge look head on with magnification? Or TNT? I would try other tests before honing it down to 3/8...

Thanked: 7Lol it's not THAT bad. Just more spine wear than I cared to see, so I stopped after a long time. The TNT just wasn't convincing, I'm starting to think the angle isn't right, but I haven't ruled out user error yet

Thanked: 3795OK, so you are saying that it has visible bevels but they are not meeting to form an edge yet. Your "nada" description was confusing.
No, a set bevel on a 5/8 does not feel different from a 6/8. It sounds like you are just not quite there yet. If you honed for 2.5 hours, did you use tape? You don't want 2.5 hours of spine wear so I hope so. If you did use tape, did you change it occasionally? You need to do so in order keep the bevels at the correct angle. As the tape wears, the spine lowers and the edge is rotated off of the hone. Fresh tape brings the edge back to the hone.
Have you used any magnification to look at the bevels? Have you tried using bright light to look for reflections off of the edge? A fully set bevel will not reflect light off of the edge.
