Have you noticed the crack getting longer? If it isn't and it is not hurting anything why bother to try to "fix" it?

If it is growing I see 2 choices. Crack it on purpose and decide if you want to glue it back together and have a wider hone or the way I would lean and make 2 narrower hones out of it.

If you tried the gluing together thing and that didn't work you could always cut it again along the repair and have 2 narrow hones.

I'm not sure yet if it is growing. I had used it a week ago and there was no crack, kept in the same place as it has been for the last 8 months. Before then it hadn't been used for 2 months and the house is kept at the same temp and humidity levels all year round. And kept with the same hones. But I will mark it to see if it does grow. Hopefully it stays put.

Such a large crack in a week's time! If you did not drop it or damaged it otherwise I am afraid it won't be a stable crack. As it is an all thickness crack I am afraid you won't stabilize it with painting c.a. glue on the crack. You will need something to penetrate the crack into the heart of the stone.

    Hope this helps.

Well last night I marked the end of the crack with a pencil, bad news after checking it out this morning, it has moved a little more than a 1/4" overnight. So at this point I don't think that it can be stopped. So it seems I'll have to glue it back together when it finishes and epoxy it to a piece of maple that I have leftover from my kitchen cabinets, and hope it still hones the same. Thank you for all the help everyone.

I have had 2 from wood craft. Both cracked exactly like the one you have. The first one cracked all the way through, and I returned it. When the second one started cracking, I glued it to a piece of tile from the hardware store. I used Marine Goop.. marine epoxy.
The crack has not grown in about 6 months since gluing it to the tile..
However I now own a full set of naniwa SS, so it rarely gets used.

Well if you have had two that have cracked the same way too, then where ever they get them from has to be cutting them with the layers on edge, which will make them prone to cracking. A piece of thick tile would be good to mount it to, after glueing it back together

One other thing it might be is when you get stone wet if stone in undergoing major temperature change that might cause it to crack.

For the water temp I use it straight from the tap right away, so I would believe that it wails be fairly close to the same temp as the air in the house, or at least close. But it could have been enough to stress it far enough to crack. The only difference that I know of is I generally soak the stone before using it, the last time using it I was only wetting the top. Which when put away one side dry and one side damp. This stone really doesn't absorb much water at all.

I did call and talk to the local woodcraft store and they said that if online won't return or exchange it that they would. But they only have two in stock so not much of a selection to pick from.

I don't think temp is an issue unless you get to freezing temp (then it definitely is). Wet and dry cycles may be, though.
