There are way more Tomae strata in the Honkuchi Naori than anything else, so any Kyoto mine is likely to produce more of them.

As for contamination, I think a little care goes a long way...

Here are my naguras:

Mejiro



Koma



Used on Iwasaki Choice Nakayama:



Used on 3 different razors.
Set bevel on 1k Chosera.
The Naguras produced mixed slurry with the polishing stone.
Mejiro nagura very quickly removed the 1k scratches, then the Koma refined the scratches from Mejiro also pretty fast, finished on the polisher with light slurry.
All razors gave very smooth shaves.
