Default New find! Super Barber Coticule!

Check this badboy out! I picked it up today at the antique store for a price so low i'm embarassed to say! Unfortunatly the makers name is rubbed off the box Has anyone seen or heard of this one?

This sucker works 5x better than my swaty, I think swatys are over-rated.

Nice find. Many barber's loved coti's. I found I got better edges off my three lined Swaty than my Coti, but Coti's are natural and there are many variants of Swaty's so results will vary.

This one must be magic! I have a three line swaty too.... It seems like I can get a nice mirror finish and slice hairs easy with this one. The swaty doesnt get nearly as close for me.

Looks great! Congratulations on yet another antique store treasure. I get better results with coticules than a Swaty, but my Swaty is faster than any of my coticules, so I use it first sometimes before finishing on the Belgian. I can't tell from the photos if your coticule is backed with anything; all the ones I have seen had either the BBW or slate as backing, to prevent breakage. Is yours a solid yellow coti, or is it backed?

It is backed with slate that has a wonderful tigers eye effect when wet. Actually, it might be BBW, I don't know what slate or BBW looks like. Mine is very smooth with little red specks throughout. When wet the specs develop almost a 3D effect and make it hard to focus my eyes.

I find it's good for the final stages because it gives a bit of suction - so the blade will stick to the surface without the use of any pressure.

Plus it's fun lathering up a stone.
I love the smell of shaving cream in the morning!

Red specks would indicate BBW. Does the tiger eye or figuring look anything like this?

That's the BBW side of a coticule mined somewhere between 100-150 years ago or more.

Do the red specks look like this?

Some BBW close up pics. The red specks in these pictures are the garnets.

ITs glued on though, doesn't that mean its slate?
