Thanks Hirlau. I definitely remembered wrong. The 201 was what I was thinking of that I mis-identified as 124. The 201 is a very good hone.

The Aloxite is the Carborundum 200.

I definitely need to play with my barber hones more. I'm starting to forget them.

OK, I was able to edit my previous post to avoid confusion for anyone. I will leave the above alone to sustain my embarrassment.

Nothing to be embarrassed about, you are the most knowledgeable one here on the Carborundum hones.
I just like to collect them. I have only used them on razors twice,, other than the 118 to set bevels.

The 122A Aloxite 6 inch, a bit rough for razors:

At a glance the 200/201 seem to be the 2 to aim for.

I've got a few 'hardware store' hones that are akin to the 112. Might even be that typ/brand, hard to say because there was no box and the brand long since worn away. Nothing I'd use for razors unless heavy work was necessary, but they do make excellent knife hones.

80 % of my Carborundums are for knives only, I posted the ones that might help with razors,, except for that particular Aloxite above.

You've already got a Swaty. If it is in decent shape, then the 200 Aloxite will not offer anything better. The 201 though is very nice and different from what you already have. If a guy has one of those, he doesn't need anything else. Then again, I have found that I can set a bevel on a decent unchipped razor in about 10 minutes, so if a person knows what they are doing and is satisfied with an adequate edge, then just a Swaty is all anyone needs.

    Wants are something completely different!

Thank you for the compliment but I feel guilty that I have not played with them enough in the past few years to keep them fresh in my memory. I'm going to have to pull out all the Carborundums some time soon to review them.

By the way, the 122A is a new one on me. I don't recall seeing that one before and that means that you have one that I do not!
