I agree that an escher could be all you need as its very keen but jnats can feel nicers to the skin so see what you think is better without being distracted by the mystique of the stone.
My jnat feels really nice on my face but my escher does feel sharper when shaving.
Could be just a preference thing!
Either way both hones take months of experience to get good at so take your time. I use nagura stones, make sure your last one is tomo nagura or use a dmt 325 plate to make mud.
