Thanked: 0My [large] natural Coticule/BB hone...
Hey folks,
I am a long time lurker, but new poster here on SRP. This is my most recent acquisition from Ardennes. It is an 8" x 3" natural coticule combination hone w/slurry stone and wood case.
I haven't used it yet, nor have I decided if I am even going to keep it, but thought I would share with all of you Coti lovers.
Regards,
Zoete

Nice coticule. I love natural combo hones. Out of something like 16 mostly old vintage coticules one of my very best is a combo from Ardennes that I got a few years ago. Very fast but still leaves a fine finished edge. Not sure what layer but a lot of pink bits in the yellow. Reminescent of a pizza pie. Anyway, try it out. You may have a keeper there.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

When Bart started helping them out with layers and how they react to sharpening razors from one and other they started putting certificates in the boxes.
They're also going to change their prices and certain layers are going to be more expensive than others based on the sharpening qualities of the particular layer.
Actually their whole pricing is going to change because they now have to dig deeper to get coticules the upper mining is running dry. If you check Bart's website there is a thread about the price changes to come within a year or so....yes increasing. The big hones can cost up to 700.00 USD with the new changes.
By big I mean 3X8 inches.
This stone is really nice!Last edited by Disburden; 11-06-2010 at 01:55 AM.

What -- now size matters?
Absolutely gorgeous stone. Color me pathetically envious.
