Thanked: 72slate or bbw
Hey, I wanted to show you guys some pictures of a new coti I bought,
it states to be a glued coti + slate.
It got myself a nice small one, pretty cheap, 100 mm by 30 mm or about 4 inch by 1 inch and with a free slurry stone.
I haven't seen too many coticules and haven't really looked into slate <-> bbw difference, so any input would be appreciated
slurry looks somewhat purple and milky afaict
thank youLast edited by jasp; 11-10-2010 at 01:40 PM.

+1 on it being a BBW, you can see the purple/bluish slurry that gives it away, and the leathery grain on the BBW.

Thanked: 3795Whenever a coticule is bound to a piece of slate, the two pieces will be bound by a straight line. The boundary between the two sides of your stone is certainly not a straight line, indicating that yours is a natural coticule that was cut from the boundary of two distinct veins of rock--the coticule and the bbw.

I'm no expert but it looks glued to me. maybe my ancient monitor.

Could it have been one that was a natural combo that came apart then needed to be glued back? That would be a tough contour to fit.

The boundary is curved, might be hard to tell on a CRT because that monitor will make anything look curved
